I got around this problem during the installation phase. The install has completed and when it reboots and attempts to startup it freezes. The display reads " loading oshi1394firewire" or something very similar to this.

Can anyone help? How can I bypass this so it will continue to boot?

there is a thread several lines down called 'hung on redhat install' that you may find is of interest.

basically, use 'expert nofirewire' at the prompt for kernel options before boot.
