Inspiron 8200...Is it a lost cause???

Prior to buying my 9100 I had the unfortunate experience of stepping on my old lappy (yes I should be thrashed for this). The LCD itself was the only component damaged as I still use it on my network with the docking station / monitor. I had the UltraSharp SHARP Q150U1LW22 and have found that replacing this sucker isn't going ot be cheap. I am considering going for the SXGA version since it is only $199 compared to the $299+ of the USXGA. WOuld anyone happen to know if I am going to forced to buy an identical display or could I go for the alternative SXGA cheapy without having to alter anything (of course besides removing the screen etc). Thank you in advance for your help.

You should check ebay for parts. Try looking for "Dell LCD Inspiron" you should find plenty and lower prices than $199.

I have been looking around on Ebay and have been able to find screens as low as $125 with 8200 listed on them as a compatible screen, but with me having to go from a USXGA to the SXGA Im wondering if there is going to be any incompatibility issues since they are two different screens. Dont really care about the loss of quality/resolution but Im definately looking for a lcd that I can just plug right in and be done with it. I hope this makes sense. I just dont want to shell out $125 on a screen that will be useless to me once I plug it into the computer. Its like someone with a 8600 or 9100 going from the Ultrasharp version of the display and then having to replace it with the lower version of the screen. Just not sure if I'll run into any problems doing that.
