actually, i just finished loading up my computer, its all in working order now. the only thing im missing is the video card, which i am purchasing tomorrow. im running win2000, and it says that hyperthreading is working. i went into task manager and even the two seperate stat screens show up. Could just be a ploy to get people to buy xp because they think they need it? i dunno, its working though and im lovin my new computer

HT does work under Windows 2000 - it is just not "supported" (meaning if something is goofy, you're on your own).
Also, XP Home DOES support HT as well. Most all linux distros released in the last few years will see two processors when HT is enabled and you have an SMP kernel.
Bear in mind that HT is not SMP but in fact it is SMT(?) - that is, multi-threading not multi-processing, but it's a bit foggy. There are some nice discussions on this topic within these forums, should you wish to search for more info.
