FYI: I am not sure of USPS policies, but if you ship a computer through UPS and it is not in the original packaging, they will not honor any insurance claim. You may run into this problem with USPS espically if it was improperly packaged which led to the damage. It would not suprise me at all if they tried to find any possible excuse to not pay you.

yeah, i know they are going to try to get out of it if the can. but at least the laptop still works though.

I know that FEDEX has a rule like that either use the original box or buy one of there's. The one's you buy from them are just like the one that someone here added a link to. I guess that you will find out what USPS has to say about the box. It looked like you bought the box from USPS
If that is true than they should cover it. I think you said that your Father told the lady what he was doing and that she gave him the stuff to send it with. He should try and deal with her.

twoodcc, keep this updated. Don't give up on trying to get your money back. You were definately shafted on this deal. And seeing that the deal involved a person that lied to you and didn't send you your money (Karkass), its really hard to believe anything else this person says.

you're forgetting that he sent the laptop back... hes innocent until proven guilty...

well i'm pretty sure he never sent the money b/c i never got it, and the tracking never went through. if he did send it, then i should have gotten the money the same day he got my laptop

i think i remember him saying he canceled the money order because the laptop was shipped damaged...

but if he sent it when he did, he couldnt' have cancelled it b/c it would have been in my mailbox by the time he opened the laptop. so there's no way he sent it

maybe, but you dont know that for a fact... just assuming… its possible if he had it tracked, he could also have it canceled…

and i dont know what youre doing agreeing to ship it out before you even got your money... that was a mistake on your part...

I hope it all works out for everyone; it is just one of those sticky situations in life.

Try not to pass judgement too soon; as Duke said, they're both still here airing their laundry - definately NOT what a scammer would be doing (either side).

i do know that for a fact, he gave me the tracking number before my dad shipped out the laptop. but you are right, i should have gotten the money first, and i can gurantee that i won't make that mistake again. live and learn i guess

you are right, but this isn't his first deal. people gave him the benefit of doubt (including me) and look at what i got. what if the laptop wasn't damaged during shipping? would i have gotten my money? or would he just keep my laptop and never come here again? who knows? i'm not trying to slam him, but look at what happened.

I assure u, it had to be damaged in shipping. but regardless, its on its way home to u...

thats why i posted the pics to show u. my end looks shady i know that..but assure u its not..but im not going to keep repeating myself, ive tried everything i could do to help u on the damage,etc.. and if u need anything after that, im more than happy to help out.

i'm not saying that you damaged the laptop. i'm not saying that the laptop wasn't damaged during shipping. i was saying that it looks like you never sent the money in the first place. but i guess it doesn't matter now anyways
