i thought he already sent it back...

and i would too... refund his money, and then you can deal with the USPS since you were the one who insured it...

id also yell at my father…

its up to you like i said, if i do send it back it will be packed good, but i dont want u to ruin anything with your insurance claim, thats the only thing im worried about,

well it would be easier to deal with it here at my post office, cuz they want the original forms, and i have them here. but i guess its a risk though.
why dont you both wait until USPS reopens...then you can ask them

yeah i guess, but i asked him to see how the laptop works. if it works fine, then for him to just send it to me whenever he can. this is gonna be a big hassle, so i'd rather deal with it here. i can just say that after he got it, he sent it back to me. i think that will work with my post office, at least according to my dad after talking to them

I can't offer any advice on the legal end but I do stand corrected, my apologies Karkass. On the + side I think(again no offense) you've been through so much here that no ones going to doubt your honesty again

And if they do, tell me and I'll give em a good

Twoodcc, Karkass, I hope this works out for the both of ya

From my experiances with the post office and laptop claims (about 2 or 3 now) They will use any excuse so I would have karkass do the claim. It will make things a lot easier they will tell you flat out its our falt we will fix it then come back and say, oh sorry but your not getting anything. They did it to me and another guy with an iBook G4 we were supposed to trade.
ok, i checked out the laptop for twoodcc, everything seems to be working correctly, except the usb ports, they have a hard time connecting to devices, like their is a short or something,

ok, well i've decided that i want you to just send the laptop back to me insured and i'll just deal with it. just let me know when you can ship it, and tracking and stuff. i'll be on aim later today, you can email me or pm me. i'm sorry that everything turned out like this, thanks for working with me and trying to help. just let me know.
tell u what since i cant ship it out til tomorrow anyway, call the post office like i said, ask them what to do, and if u still want it shipped, consider it done,
post #71 of 172
I am serious, the post office screwed my on a iBook G4 that was shipped, they delievered it to the wrong house, someone else at a wrong address signed for it, they said it was all there fault and then after a month with postal inspectors and everything they said, hey we are not paying for it and this was after they told both of us, hey we are responsible and will pay for it just bear with us.
i know, i think he is just worried about his laptop. ANd wants to cut his losses and just have his lappy back which i understand. Also i think he is worried that since is wasnt packed to well, that it might not matter anyway.

But the only way to be sure is to file the claim etc..but the decision is up to him
post #73 of 172
Thats true, I can understand that. FYI for u, anything u ship from now on grab the box when ur done and Shake the Sh*T out of it, if it moves your wrong because do not think that any shipping service is ot doing the same thing. That box would have been ok (not the greatest) but ok had the box been snug to where it could only wggle alittle with some packing popcorn and it would have been really good. But with a lot of free space it can move way to much and slam down and the case slam around inside the box, etc. Just so u know.

just ship it to me anyways, if you don't mind. i've been looking at the forms that i guess they gave you online, and it would be easier for me to deal with the post office here, i can see that already. it looks like i won't get it til next week, so i guess it'll be awhile before i get to deal with my post office, but there's nothing else i can do. yeah, the packaging wasn't the greatest, but i cant believe that this happened.

$10-12 at you local UPS store and re-useable

If you have the original box that's ok but this is what you guys should've used.

yeah, that would have been nice. it's expensive, but i guess spending $90 would be better than a broken laptop, but too late now

Is it just me, or does that damage seem a little strange for shipping damage. Looks to localized...

To get that kind of damage it seems like something would have to be pressed very hard directly on just that corner. It seems unlikely that there is anything in the box that would do that. There looks like there is enough packaging to me to protect it from that kind of damage. Cracked screen I could understand, but not a corner of a notebook in a laptop bag in a box with air padding on top.

If the folder was lying on top of the laptop the way the picture indicates within a laptop bag, I'm not sure what could hit just the corner enough to break it without causing more extensive damage...

Whatever the case, I think ttwoodc was getting screwed anyway. The scenario played out just like the one between Karkass and I except I recalled the package before he picked it up. Did Karkass ever provide proof of payment? The tracking number should have shown up by now. He did the same to me and his tracking number NEVER showed up. He supposedly recalled payment to me, but I talked to the post office and they said that there was no recall of any package to me. To recall a package from the USPS, you have to have the local post office call the post office of the delivery and that was never done for any delivery for me, regardless of what Karkass claimed. He also never provided a serial number of the MO even though all he had to do was email it

I can't believe people in this forum at times. If I ever have a bridge in the desert to sell, I will do it here. How many excuses do you guys except... Karkass and his adventures I've seen lately on this forum are amazing...

Good luck ttwoodc, but if I worked at the post office I would deny your claim. That damage is way to localized given the packaging.

Can anyone explain a scenario that would do that given the packaging? I'm a stress analysis engineer and I can't think of anything.

Not much I'm afraid. While things seem fishy, you can't prove anything. Right now you don't have either the laptop or money so I think you have little choice but to get the laptop back ASAP and chalk the whole thing up to experience. Sorry. I am still thinking about selling my m6807 but after my recent experience here, I'm thinking of doing it local only instead of through the forums. I'm getting tired of ebay as well.
