Strange Keyboard Problem: Keyboard Disabled at Windows Login

Lately (like the last week), when I wake my comoputer up and try to login the password box wont accept any characters from the laptop keyboard...usually it will, but sometimes it acts like the keyboard is diabled.

Typing on the keyboard simply does nothing, although some keys still have functions. When I press 'u' which has the left arrow key fucntion, it will bring the cursor up to the username box, and when i press the 'o' button which is the right arrow key function (in blue) it will open or close the options box.

It is like the Pad Lock, or something is activated...but when I disable that, or scoll lock, or caps lock, or num lock, nothing happens...

It is scary, because I cant logon to the computer, and even restarting it leaves it in the same state. I have been able to log on by pressing 'alt gr' or ctrl-altgr, or some combination of alt gr. sometimes just hitting alt gr fixes the problem, sometimes not...

Anyone ever expereince this before? I already completely disaled the accesibility option 'mouse keys' and today it happened again...its starting to get really annoying.

I am having a similar problem with my keyboard, that is progressively getting worse. I used to get rid of it by hitting shift+scrLk, but now must reboot several times. I have had a thread started for a week now and noboby has replied. I am still exploring my problem with IBM. I don't think this is a software issue.

Turns out my problem was becasue of my port replicator (and the attached external keyboard). Detachting my usb port replicator and restarting fixed the problem. Then uninstalling the driver and reinstalling fixed the problem for good. However, it came back about a month later, so I just stopped using the port replicator all together for now.

There was a problem with the newer IBM thinkpad with the port replicator and the Windows 2k and XP patch.

While attached to the port replicator, the keyboard seems to be disabled. That was a problem sometime between Sept 04 - Oct 04. The patch fix should've been release already.

It occur a lot in the T23, T30 model. Not sure about the others.
