there's two different files you can download from dell... download the second one on the page for the videobios upgrade. i did it and it just restarts your comp and then updates the vidcard bios...

deltaone145: this isn't a system bios upgrade, its a video card bios upgrade (i didn't know the video card had a bios, but i guess it does)

ive dloaded 2 files
BR87747.exe (vbios) and R87749.EXE (drivers)
So the BR87747 will do it for me without needing a floppy? Cool

for the vid bios, if you don't want to use a floppy or bootable thumbdrive download the R87747.exe from dell

http://support.dell.com/support/down...leaseid=R87747

the driver you downloaded is the only one for it...

hi,
ive downloaded the new bios upgrade to my hard disk but when i finish unzipping i get an error "Resources Files Missing". Has anybody else got this error, i dont want to mess this process up!!! Im left with 2 .exe files in the unzipped directory "winflash.exe." and "winflash_no_battery_check.exe", which one do i use???? Also is it best to do the bios first and then the drivers or vice versa????
Sorry for being dim, im not used to all this flashing business!!!
Dont know about the first question. When I did mine it was using winflash and it ran on its own after unzipping. As to your second question, I flashed the bios then installed the drivers and all is well.

I can tell you one thing... the drivers are based on the 8.06 catalyst if anything.... (according do Dell's driver version). This means that these drivers do not have the 256mb fix and we all know the performance of Dell's drivers to date...

I am going to try to flash the bios... im scared... did they lock features?... Improve performance?....

Im scared. but i guess ill be the guinea pig for you sissies... lmfao!

No, worries.. It's worked great for me so far and I'm using the latest Omegas (Which have the 256MB fix). So, from what I can tell nothing has really changed as far as functionality, but I haven't done any before and after benchmarking so I don't know what speed increases there will be Good Luck..
I benchmarked after the video bios and nothing changed at all. I tried with the dell drivers and used the omega's 2590, score remained the same for 3dmarks 2005.

Your order has been dispatched as of 03/11/2004
WOOHOOO
Altho the time between in production and delivery is about 1 day.. Is that rather quick for a complete "test" of the thing? I really dont want any grief when i get it.

Sweet! I am assuming that means they got their shipment of the MR9800 they've been waiting on. That means mine should ship soon!

I have just got my 9100 and updated to A04 bios and now tryin to update mr9800 bios and its sayin resources files missing........wtF?

ok its flashed.
ran winflash manually and its ok... Why it couldnt do it itself i dunno
Happy with the laptop, however, there is a "little" light leakage however top and bottom i see when bootin up..its only about an inch of it at bottom and less than that at top, i guess i can ignore it. Its not as bad as that one in the FAQ...god if it was...
Also made a good choice with WSXGA, dont think my eyes could take WUXGA
