Hello

After installing Firefox on my Asus M6800n the browser quick launch button does not work? It posts an error message saying: "Error - can“t get enviroment variable" and "1"" ?

Anyone know how to fix this?

Cheers

Hmmmm, works for me. Maybe someone will be along to give you some help.

Make sure you have the latest bios, ATK100 drivers. After that, all the quicklaunch button does is launch your default browser- if thats firefox, then it launches firefox. All that assumes that ff works normally- does it?

Hmm. Everything works fine in the browser, and yep, the bios is the newest. I don't get it. Mabey something in the registry.

Its the ATK100 drivers then. Load those up, they interface between the OS and the hardware, IE those buttons.

Do the power4gear buttons work?

I (sometimes) have the same problem. I will hit the button to launch the browser and the error will appear. After hitting Ok, sometimes firefox will launch, but most times it won't. I'm running bios 205 and have the latest ATK100 drivers installed from the Asus site. All other buttons (except wireless) work fine.

Wireless for me has gotten screwed up once. I reinstalled the wireless drivers (proset) and i was good to go.

That wireless button only works with the intel 2100 or 2200 wifi card, and the intel proset drivers loaded. Any other make of card and it wont work.

That is the one button I miss on my W1, that I wish it had.

First of all, sorry for my absence, and thanks for the help!

Yes, all other buttons works just fine besides the wireless button. But thats okay. I use the windows to control my wireless. Dont like the Intel drivers and util.

Yes, I know the button only works with Intel proset drivers. I have the 2200 wireless card properly setup in Win2k, it works fine. However the button doesn't. I've reformatted twice with the same result. I also installed WinXP long enough to setup the ATK100 and Intel drivers; button still does not work.

Weird. The browser button works sometimes. I really dont think it's an intel proset issue. That only consernes the wireless on/off button.

But nevermind. Since it works periodic, it must be my system thats f..... up.

Hehe, well, check for viri n spywares.

What other than the intel sw do you use? The XP? I have had bad luck with XP controlling the wifi.

ouch. yeah...probably is a hardware problem. shouldnt the hardware buttons work to open whatever you set as defult browser/email client in windwos? i know that when i set firefox and thunderbird to replace outlook and IE as defult, my hardware buttons changed.

I dunno, sw can make things intermittent, especially when it comes to spyware stuff.

If it continues after you do a thorough checking/cleaning on the machine, then it may well be hardware

I sort of solved the problem! When i maximize my messenger contacts the button starts working! Now thats weird! I only have to do it once! I can even close MSN and it keeps closing. Mabye the program checks whick browser is the default one?
