Connecting laptop to TV

I'm having trouble connecting my laptop (A75-S2291) to my TV through the S-Video out port. TV screen will flicker as the computer boots up, but does not show as connected in the ATI control panel. Is this a hardware or software issue?

any help would be appreciated!

well I've done it with my M30X this way...

Having the S-video already connected to the powered TV then I connect it to the S-Video port on the notebook then go to Display properties>settings then you choose if you want to extend your desktop to the second display or not, then go to >advanced>displays> your TV should show as connected.

If it doesn't try connecting another TV or even another monitor to the notebook to see if it shows up it might give you a hint of what is happening.

make sure the output method suits ur tv e.g. ntsc/pal and make sure the res is supported
