For these requirements:

1.7 Pentium M or equivalent
80 GB hard drive at 5400
1024 RAM
128 MB video - Radion 9700
memory card reader for ms/ms pro
DVD+- RW/CD-RW
3+ hours battery life (going with the 12-cell)
Decent rep for longevity

Not so huge, I have to haul it with a hand truck or have serious real estate in my surroundings.

Want to use it in my lap whenever the mood strikes without being singed.

Extended warranty (more than 1 year)

Price around the $2000 mark - give or take 1-200.

Would you say the Sager 3790 is my best bet? Is there anything else that I should seriously consider before making my purchase? Can anyone think of any other notebook that might be worth looking at?

I swear, it's my last question on the matter. Then I'll go on to other equally annoying questions!

Compal cl56, aOpen 1557gls, Mitac 8050. Not sure if they have the card reader though.

Cl56 is worth taking a look at, it has an SD card reader (but nothing more). Not sure about the extended warrenty, you'll have to look at the warrenty that different vendors offer.

Yeah, I seriously considered the CL56. It doesn't have the card reader I need. That was the only drawback. I even liked that the screen was hard to view at odd angles, so if I'm at school, I don't feel like everyone else is reading my notes.

Oh, but wait! What about an external plug in reader? Total PITA or no? I've never had to do that. Don't really want alot of extra stuff to pack along. But if it's a little somthing that could be sorta semi-permanent? That might be okay.

The Mitac 8050 - did I read somewhere that it heats up a good bit? Or maybe I'm confoozled.

The aOpen - I seriously considered it, too. Now I can't remember why I discarded. I'll have to look and post back. 'Cause I'd really like to know if my reasons for discarding them can be countered. Oh, okay. The reason I ditched it is because ibuypower.com doesn't offer an extended warranty. Only one year. ANd I swear that was the only place I found this little booger. Had a great price too.

Thanks, thanks!
