new 3790 screen problem

I just got my 3790 twenty minutes ago and I noticed that It has a problem that I read people used to have. When I push lightly onto the back of the lcd you can see it sort of ripple. I didn't know this was still an issue with 3790s. Does anyone else still have this problem?

I think that's normal. The one I thought was weird is if you try to use the resolution 320X200 on the WUXGA, the screen starts slowly turning white in patches and looks like you're being attacked by white coral. 320X240 doesn't do it, and it's not the refresh rate that's the problem. Escaping to the desktop causes the display to flicker for a few seconds, then becomes normal.

hmm i just received 3790 today, and i'm having same symptom.. when i press lightly on the back of the lcd cover, i can see ripples on the lcd., which kinda annoys me & it's something I wasn't used to using T42p... oh well.. i might also add, it runs hot =( and fan is noisy.

my new 3790 also does that on the back of lcd but you have to aply some pressure, but not alot. my big issue is that the wsxga screen looks kinda grainy.at start up windows told me screen resolution was set very low but i checked , iits 1680 by 1050 , the network nic card is spotty, sometimes its works ,sometimes it doesnt , im not sure if im keeping it, bummed out

yeah, mine looks this same. I have the wsxga too. I heard all these amazing things about the screen and it just doesn't look that impressive. I'm thinking maybe the grain is from the plastic screen protector that came on the laptop. maybe it left a residue

Make sure you calibrate the LCD. It does wonders.

I second the complaint about the squeaky keyboard... especially the space bar.

my keyboard is fine. i dont have any dead pixels either . it's just that dvd playback looks grainy. I can live with it I guess. I'm sure there's a driver update I can do or something to fix that. I just haven't figured that out yet.

Try using media player classic in Real Alternative http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm
Under File, pick "Open DVD", then start playing with the zoom and the multitude of other settings. I've found the codec it uses is still not as high quality as, say Intervideo, but it's useful for seeing if inaccurate scaling is your problem.

I love my 3790. The only minor issue I have--and believe me, it really pisses me off--is the wireless on/off button on the front of the machine. It's in the worst place, and you can't disable it, so if you plan to use the computer while reclining comfortably, expect to bump yourself off the network on a regular basis. I think I'm going to open up my 3790 and physically disconnect the button.

I don't know what's up with the squeaky keyboard comments. Mine is pretty quiet and it feels as good or better than every other laptop keyboard I've ever used.
