my wsxga screen seems to be grainy , any ideas, its at 1680 by 1050 and looks worse at 1280 by 960, any thoughts?

Well,it looks worse at 1280*960 because that is not the screen's native resolution. Your screen has 1680 physical pixels per horiziontal line and 1050 physical pixels per vertical line. When you switch to a lower resolution, the screen is dithering to create the illusion that there are 1280*960 pixels on the screen. This creates a blurry image. YOur screen will look the sharpest at it's native resolution of 1680*1050.

no the settings are highest color and not 256. just kinda grainy and dvd are not good at all. you can come fix it, Blacksburg is only like 6 hours from here,(Va Beach). when i did a system restore( after 24 hour)s of ownership because the wireless card was giving me a error, the system was set to a very low resolution but checking the settings everything was the same 1280 rez, highest color. i even ran praxis free calibration program (manaul0 but that didnt help alot., Bill
