Dell beat alienware again - Page 2

Wellllll, I think I'm going to take a couple days off, away from the forum. All of a sudden I seem to have images of Eric Cartman on acid dancing around in my head.

No offense Psycho, make sure you lock the door when you leave.

No, I'm not anymore touchy about this then any other time I've had my opinion questioned. I just feel strongly that I've got the right to believe what I want free of peoples crap. So when people start going after what I think I get very defensive. I figure if my Father can even believe in this basic freedom enough to go fight for someone else to do so (he's in the 147th C battery in Iraq), then I better damn well stand up for mine. No what I mean?

Oh.. OK... yea.... Whatever...
So, if anyone disagrees with your opinion you attack them . Guess what, that is not what your father is doing in Iraq.
Grow up Monkey Boy, I'm all done with you...

Those of you that read this thread... Sorry your time was wasted with this trash. Have a nice weekend

My opinion is, or the feeling that i got from that statement initialy was that this is better then an AW, and I'm sick of people telling me that their delli s better, or that dell is doing it better trying to make it sound like my equipment is crap. That's the way I took it, if it isn'tt he way it was meant my apologies. However, if you don't like my opinion, kiss my ass, I really don't care. That goes for my 17 in. screen opinion. I like my 15.4, you don't, bite me. You don't gotta use my gear.

Also, at no point did I say that I hate dell or that the alienware compared as well as the dell xps in performance.. I did saythat it did perform better, though the reviews (and that was with the 9800) basically said that the only reason it did perform better was the graphics card, and that the margin of increase wasn't significant enough to make a really big deal about. In a few fps tests it was only 5fps faster! In doom 3 with a 5700go option, it destroyed it of course, but that has to do with the nvidia portion. And that was the other issue, WTF is the deal with Dell not offering Nvidia? I like nvidia cards, why don't they have that option? In this I mean high end laptops, not the bloody 5200 go. In some ways I'm of the same opinion, if dell offered everything I wanted including good customer service (which hasn't been my experience in comparison to AW) I would've gone with the dell. However, that wasn't the case. I wanted an nvidia card, and I wanted the good customer service with great knowledge, and dell didn't prove it to me, especially after my brother took over the dell and had some other issues. My experiences lead me to my purchase, so I've got no regrets.

So, my final statement about this Horse Shit I'm going to state as simple as possible. Anyone who said I should have an open mind should check theirs first, because you just attacked an OPINION of mine and you twisted what I said. And yes, by saying that I said it it performed as well as the dell is twisting my words, because that isn't what I said. I said the performance difference wasn't significant. So, for all of you who feel the need to slam me for having an opinion you don't agree with, how open minded are you truly?
I dunno where u got this minimal difference with a FAR superior 256mb Card BS..but the dell section has an Xps vs AW-51m benchmarking test and the Xps edges it in performace, and crushes it in benchmarks (stock)....AW does takes the cake on Price however. http://notebookforums.com/showthread...9&page=3&pp=15 thats WITHOUT the 9800.

With your very own statement your contradict yourself. I stated my opinion and then got chewed out for it? You attacked me! I gave my opinion on the new dell, 17 in screens and how people always manage to come in and give us crap for owning AW and you attacked me! Who needs to grow up? My right to my opinion is one of the few I excercise and you can bite me if you think you can twist my words on me and try to make me look like I jumped all over you, I stood and defended myself from you trying to tell me that what I find to be true in my own experiences is wrong and that the fact I don't like the idea of a 17 inch screen makes me a weenie! And I need to grow up? I even remember a post that you put on that you recently posted on that you put in your opinion and backed it up with facts and you asked no one to flame. You flame me when I back things up with the expereinces I've had? Later in that same post a guy says he can get far cry maxed out on graphics and it runs well, you tell him bullshit. I say bullshit with experience and you flame me again. Well, I'm going back with what he said, you have your right to beleive whatever you want and so do I, so think what you want an di will live with my equipment. I guess with people like this on this forum I will have to keep my opinion to myself from here on out.

LIke I said, I was going with MY EXPERIENCE. How many times do I have to repeat that? My experience and what I've seen in REAL LIFE differs from what i've seen on here. As I do find most of the people on here are stand up people, and obviously oppionated, I would normally go with exactly what someone says. However, using even just simple logic should read that I gotta believe what I saw with my own eyes. I saw a 9800 equipred xps peform only slightly better then a 9700 alienware. That was extremely rare as I have very few resources like that around here, but the fact is I saw it. I know that doesn't mean crap to you. But to expect me to see something totally different online and doubt my eyes, not an easy thing to do. It is very possible that the xps may have had issues, doubt it though. The 9700 I know doesn't have any problems, so I will go with what I saw with my own eyes.

Third and foremost, I don't have to keep going into other companies forums bragging about how they are creating something better to make myself feel better about what I own. I appreciate my purchase, the quality of it and the look, and require nothing to make me feel like I made a good purchase. It doesn't say dell on it and it has an Nvidia graphics card, that is all I needed to make me feel better. So, how about you try something new, and find a better reason to not drop this crap in here. I love my alienware and you spouting your crap to make you feel better aobut your purchase won't change that.
Hey MonkeyChild...
Please re-read your first post to this thread. I quoted it for you. The only attack around here was you and we called you on it... sorry you did not like it. Let me point some things out for you so maybe you can understand that your opinion was initially an attack...

"for one, 2., third and foremost" (your opinion is coming across with a righteous attitude)

"very slight margin" (where are your facts to back up that claim... you later told us that you saw it with your own eyes... )

"other companies forums" (the people you are telling this to own a51m's)

"drop this crap in here" (is that your opinion or are you hoping to be a future moderator?)

"you spouting your crap" (The only one that was spouting was you. You were attacking Nextel's opinion which you later told us your father is fighting for his rights )

"I appreciate my purchase, the quality of it and the look, and require nothing to make me feel like I made a good purchase" (good... enjoy )

"It doesn't say dell on it and it has an Nvidia graphics card, that is all I needed to make me feel better" (good... feel better)

You mention your "EXPERIENCE" and "REAL LIFE"... you're only 20 years old, how much "REAL LIFE" experience do you think you have.

Overall, you've proven that you can give it but you can't take it.

Just have a drink and let it go...

Ok, if I came off as high on a horse, then I do apologize. I didn't mean to sound that way, and rereading what I posted I did come off that way. HOwever, I don't back down from my opinions as I feel that way truly. However, I think you are analyzing stuff and trying to make a mockery of me and I don't think that is fair because you tend to take things a bit out of context. You try to discredit my experience with the comparison of an a51 vs xps because I'm 20. What the hell does have to do with it? I saw that there was somewhere between a 50-100 point difference in a 3dmark03, and between 5-20 fps difference depending on the game. Given 20 fps maybe significant, but not when it is running int the high end like 60 or above. And it is obvious that you in general won't accept the fact that I saw something different then you. Apparently this isn't something you choose to believe, so the point is mute anyway. Whole lot said that you could've summed up with, "I don't buy experiences."

I don't see how when I say "drop this crap in here" I'm acting like a moderator. I see how it could look that way when you take it out of the sentence, but what I was saying in more basic terms is, " why don't you find something else to do besides post these things in here. The spouting our crap statement is something we have all been doing. He came in with his opinion and I expressed mine, then you expressed yours. Yet again, I apologize for sound outlandish there. Basically I was saying I'm getting tired of people coming in and telling me that dell is better. That isn't an opinion, that is a cold hard fact. I'm tired of it. I view that is them trying to tell me that I made a bad decision, when in fact I think I Made a much better decision that I do enjoy as you said I should.

Now, on to what we've proven. Neither one of us likes to hear someone elses opinion, especially when it comes of schnidely. (again, apologies). WE are both stubborn enough to the point that even when we are wrong in some way or another, we don't wan to admit it. I took the statement that started this whole thread as a statement against alienware. It is, but I should've worded my opinion differently. The initial statement was matter of fact and a little playful and I failed to keep that tone. I think we both could've worded many things differently, because everything you were saying was coming off as an attack towards me and the other way around.

SO I agree, Let's both have a drink and let it go, as we are both the type that wants to get in the last word. Guess that would be both the scottish and irish in my family. I'm going to save mine for later though, it is 4.30 am my time, time for bed.

Again, I apologize that it came off wrong. If you look at it in its most basic form, this is one huge missunderstanding that would've been corrected much more quickly if we would've not been so pissed off about it.

I can vouch for monkeyboy. on TechTV they compared best gaming laptops, the Dell XPS with the 9800 only performed 2.5 FPS faster than AWs Area-51m machine (unfortunatley I forgot which game) so Dell you get 80 FPS but AW you get 77.5 FPS. I don't want to re-start any arguements especially after it looks like things are starting to get resolved, but this an example

and I had to read all this to make sure there wasn't a flame war going on... First the thread title is just plain wrong. This forum isnt here for others to incite war between different brand owners. Turn the brand names in that title around and stick it in the Dell forum and it would be just as wrong. nobody wants crap like that. Good Info. Very Poor Delivery! *Closed.
