No i'm not confused, i know very well that the units are from Clevo and Sager is also just a Reseller.

but look at his Sig, he has listed his problem unit as a Sager when in Fact that unit did not get send out from Sager.

the facts that Sager and PCTorque goes out of their way for their Users. i don't think it's fair for someone having a problem unit that wasn't even from sager, to have the problem pin to the Sager name.

You're crazy. All the components are the same except the sticker on the lid. Just search the word "4750" on this forum and you'll see that over 50% of the threads are about problems. Clevo sent out faulty units, you can either accept this fact or not.

That's not entirely true. The ram could be different, same as the harddrive, wireless card, and screen. There are wxga versions of the 4750 as well. All of the listed devices could cause serious problems if they are lemons, so don't assume its a universal problem. Your really the first to go through pro-star, so there is always a chance for different problems to occur. They might have not applied the thermal tape correctly as well.

I suppose you're right, but I'm positive that I have the same Gigabyte wireless card, Hitachi harddrive, and LG screen warranted by Philips. But, the ram could be different (most likely my problem for the crashes), as well as bad thermal compound installation. My reason for refering to my laptop as a 4750 is simply because a lot of people don't seem to know what a Clevo D47K/D470K is. I'll try my best to simply return it and buy a Sager from PCTorqe. I've seen the way he supports his customers, and if I would have purchased my notebook from him I wouldn't be concerned about my current problems at the moment. As always Maya, you seem to be the steady savior for the 4750 owners around here. Thank you.

Okay Maya, I have mobilemeter unstalled and I ran a test. Also the speaker settings you recommended helped alot.

Normal (pre-gaming): Temp - 44*/ HDD - 28*

Post gaming: Temp - 60* / HDD 36*

For some reason she didn't crash this time (which gives me a little hope). Is there any chance that my hardware needed to be burned in?

Current temp (5 mins post gaming): temp - 46* / HDD 37*

It seems that the HDD temp actually went up? I havn't removed my game disc yet so the disc is still spinning, does that contribute to my HDD temp? Well, I'll leave her running with the game disc spinning for another half an hour then post pre/post gaming temps again. Hopefully she doesn't crash on me. You must understand that I was so happy to have no dead pixels on my lappie and I'd love to solve my problems without RMAing this baby. Thanks again.

Oh yeah, I have my power settings set to "Always on", because I enjoy gaming at a constant 2.32Ghz and I plan on leaving her stationary most the time.

Edit: I meant that my frequency is always at 2.23Ghz, not 2.32.

Well, I played Doom3 for quite awhile on low settings and the temperature maxed out at around TEMP -63*/ HDD 41* with no crashes. I then played the game at medium settings and the game crashed at a lower temp. Is anyone else had this happen in Doom3?

What graphics driver are you using? The current omega's based on the 4.10's? Currently I haven't played doom 3 for sometime. Counter-strike source is the main game I have been playing. But the current omega's fix the opengl and video problems so you should be able to game on high settings on doom 3. What resolution are you using as well? I need to know probably all of the settings you are using in doom 3. It could be the vsync setting. Also if the resolution is too high it could cause the system to crash. I hope your not using 1680x1050 in doom 3. It might look nice but will most likely crash your system. 1280x800 if allowed would probably be the best resolution to use.

I'm using the latest ATI driver offered by Sager since I have bios 1.03 . What exactly are Omega drivers? I take it they are safe for mobile chips? I havn't had any probs as of recent with my sound nor dvd drive, so if I can fix the occasional crashes I won't have to RMA this beast. I just want to try everything possible, I'm sure you understand. Thanks again.

I know that's why I'm trying to find out what's wrong. It may be simple to repair or it might not. The omega are unofficial tweaked drivers which are better suited for the mobility cards and are meant for gaming. I think the website is omegadrivers.net Try those out first. If you do have problems with those again send it in for a repair. That could develop into something. I am using the omega's based on the 4.10's and they are awesome.

Ok, I downloaded the Omega 4.10 driver. Sadly, she is crashing even more now. I even had another random lock-up yesterday when I was just browsing the web. I'm going to try my last hope and completely reformat and install everything again from scratch using all the drivers listed on Sager's site (hopefully slightly updated drivers than the ones that are on the disc). If that doesn't work I'll try the Omega 4.10s on this new install. Then I guess I will get an RMA number first thing this morning.

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. Bad news first, I completely reformatted and installed all the drivers in the manual's specific order and my system crashed/rebooted after starting to play Doom3 on the new format. Good news, after the forced reboot windows notified my that my system had a fatal error with the ATI Technologies driver. Currently I am downloading Sager's 8.04 driver instead of Pro-Star's 7.9 and we'll see how it goes. If I get another reboot I'll try out the Omega 4.10 beta. And, if that doesn't work I'll try the 4.9 non-beta Omega. If everything fails after doing so, then I will feel less bad about RMAing my notebook.

Update: Tried Sager's 8.04 drivers, system crashed. I then installed the 4.10 Omega drivers, system still crashed. Damn.........RMA.

well, looks like your GPU is fried. =(
it's not so bad, I'm going to be lappyless for a grand total of about a month if that makes you feel any better

Well, I got my RMA # today and I'm sending it back for a 100% refund. I figured that this was a better way to go considering that You can now get the 4750 for about $150 less than was the purchase price was when I bought it. Also, I can get one with the Sager name on the notebook, instead of the weird M-Tech puffy sticker on the lid.
