Acrylic On A Sager Lid

Thread Starter
Yes, I'm going to paint the lid of my Sager with Acrylics, I've had it for about 4 days and I already want to make it mine. One question... Hopefully someone from PCTORQUE will tell me if my idea is plausible.

Can I cover the lid of my laptop with two layers of blue Painter's Masking Tape. Comes off easy and won't let the paint bleed onto the lid, thus (IMPORTANT) not voiding the warranty.

I'll post pics of it when I'm done, and comfortable with it. Tell me what your thoughts are.

Cool, cant wait to see. It is so rarly I get to gawk at new pics. And it would be nice to see you like up to your title.

I doubt you'd void the warranty unless it causes problems with the system. You're not removing the motherboard or anything like that. If you had to return it and the paint wouldn't come off the lid, you'd lose the cost of the lid is all.

oooh...i can't wait to see..what color or colors are you thinking about??

Well, I tend to have a great set of restraint when I use colors, it tends to make them more evident and significant in a painting, but then again, I may use an entire spectrum. I should have an idea and the lid painted and done, with pictures taken by two weeks.

Are you going to paint a picture or just a solid color?

a design.

I made a sketch the other day, and I'll be working on it tonight, I may even be able to post pics by tomorrow night

painting is delayed because the painting I originally did, I didn't like the colors. The design and idea I thought was good and I'll still paint it. I've got to think of something not so flamboyant. I originally was using red blue and white, with blue tape on the backround, and it disgusted me because it reminded me of the American Flag. Don't get me wrong the country is fine, the flag's colors just repel me.

I need to find colors that don't stand out and don't catch the person's eye. Which is the complete opposite of what a painter/artist wants to do when making a picture. I don't want too attractive colors for they will attract, criminals as well as others.

But then again I may just say what the heck and paint it with whatever colors I deim needed. Any thoughts?

Should I paint what my heart wants, what I think looks good and appealing. or should I dumb it down and paint something completely bland and unattractive, so as not to gather the wrong eyes.

also tell me if I should post some pre-pics of progress, and if my design is...appealing.

well...here we go, my first time posting pics, we'll see how this goes....

First up, the lid, pre-taped with blue painters tape. I went once across left to right, and then again down to up. Then I used Titanium white(non-yellowing) acrylic paint as my backround or "primer". I won't be using water on this, because I'm afraid it will bleed through small cracks that paint can't get on it own, but that when mixed with water, can.

I had primed the tape first as a test to see if the paint would bleed through, Risking my warranty I believe. Fortunetly it didn't.

Then the sketch on the lid. I don't mind the sketch, I orginally made the sketch when I was on vacation when I was bored and playing around with a friends Palm Pilot. I liked it on the Palm Pilot, the design that was on the Palm was a brick red. So I decided to use the same colors since the all red and white sketch appealed to me.

damn I wanted them to be all connected with the post. oh well. I'll try angelfire next.

Keep in mind this sketch repels me, and it isn't close to being done, so the colors are down basically, the ones I hate I mean, but the official painting will be sharper

did you want them to show up in the post? if so you need to use the img flag instead of the http:// tag...

Here they are

I'll post them for you until you can edit yours so it works.

Maybe a mod could edit it for him and then delete my post.

Wow it's looking pretty good. Do you still have work to do on it or is that how you plan to keep it?

oh I think it looks horrid right now, hehe. I still have much work to do. I am still thinking of either, redoing the design, changing the colors, and/or painting the entire thing over.

Its the blue tape backround that I think is throwing me off.

here's what I did the first time I was given a canvas and a brush with paint. you might recognize it from my avatar.

this may give you some backround of what I make. I'm taking a small plain air painting class at the moment, but this is the first art class I've ever taken.

wow that avatar looks really nice. When it's small like that it looks like a real photo, couldn't tell it was your work till i got to see a nice big picture. Just be sure to post some pictures of the final product...really anxious to see how it comes out

hehe thanks, sure thing pictures of the final product will be posted. By then I'll probably be using angelfire so I can have them be apart of the post, instead of an outside link. Or if I could email a mod them and have him/her post them for me.

Bgesley, to make the picture show up in your post, instead of linking to it edit your pos so it does this:

[*IMG]link_to_image_here_http_and_all[/IMG*]

Use the IMG button. And don't include the *.
