A little off topic but is it possible someone (wisefish?) could make a short tutorial on how to post pictures in a post. Maybe start it as a thread and it could become a sticky...just a thought.

I'm on it.
EDIT: Ok finished. It's in the photo gallery section.

maybe a post on vB code in general use would be nice, but I bet there is a website with all that.

two questions. and one answer.

Firstly. Acrylic doesn't come off anything, nor does it crack. You can use it on pretty much anysurface. I have a friend where she's paints things on her purse, shirt, sweater, wallet. And its the same for years

I don't mind losing the cost of the lid, considering I want to get the 16.1 uxga lid later, but what if I accidentally get paint on the bottom part.

I guess it was only one question. I may be able to use turpentine to get it off if I ever do accidentally get paint on somewhere other than the lid, but I'm still not sure.

okay, Update. I'm going to finish it by tonight and hopefully post some pictures.

Also, since I've been told that I can paint directly onto the lid as long as I don't take anything apart. But I'm staying with the tape.

Calm Down.. He's working on putting the modern day Mona Lisa on his notebook. But he's having a little trouble finding models, and such.. LOL

well sorry fellas. but the laptop needs to be sent in for repairs. two failed harddrives and DVD/CDRW failed on me too. So it'll be awhile till you see the painted lid. However I'll be working on better designs. I have on in mind already but I won't be able to paint it on the lid for some time.

Oh well i guess it's more important to have something that works then something that looks good.

I think the opposite. but still I need the laptop. heh I'll post designs and you guys can have votes on which one would be a good laptop lid. Sound good?

You'd rather have a good looking laptop then a working laptop? In the words of Brian Fellows "That's cr-azy' ". Plus who buys a Sager for their looks?

I did. I think the 88XX look better than most other laptops.

Well here we go, sorry it took awhile to get these sketches up. Also I'm sorry the quality isn't beautiful. I only use a pencil.

this was done in a similar style that another painting of mine is in. Also this is wider, I think on the laptop it would need to be more square. So there maybe be some distortion. But overall I like it. I would really really like you to post your interpretation of what you think this means. I won't be offended believe me. I've heard some zingers and I love EVERY interpretation, no matter how much it differs from mine. Also where you see little lines that look like window cracks, I plan to put shades of deep red in there. So the colors would be only black, white, shades of grey and red.

This is a recreation of a small little doodle I made on a friends palm pilot while on vacation. This is also a remake of the original painted sketch that was on the laptop before hand.

Sorry about the wrinkles in the paper, but I think they look pretty awesome. I might even incorporate them into the picture. This one isn't sideways so it might look weird on the laptop lid, but nonetheless a sketch I like. This was an on-site sketch of an old rusted beached boat that I climbed up on in Inverness, CA. If I don't plan to incorporate the wrinkles into the painting I would put some raw savage display of coulds and sky like some cataclysmic orchestra.

This is just a fun sketch I made about 30 mins ago, didn't come out like I had in my head too nice, but it ended up a little better. The faces are wrong, at least his is. Anyway I plan to have her hair drape over his head and over to the other side then sort of transform into that abstract, and have the abstract travel across their backs over to the other side of the painting. This might come out better square.

This was a percpective study much like the on-site sketch I did on that beached boat. Actually I'm sitting on the same boat looking down into the water, sketching my legs and the shadow and the water and the edge of the boat. Sorry about that Dr.Pepper spill hehe.

A sketch I made today while taking mass trans. Thought it might be a nice laptop lid because it can be viewed from any angle. Won't be too hard to make either. I might clutter the white with some sort of design, but I might just keep it black and white simple.

Well there ya have it. Post your ideas, reactions, and general comments

My Thoughts

First off all your sketches look great.

For a Laptop I think your first sketch with the swirls will look the best, and is my personal favorite. Its a painting that would look cool in the lid's dimensions, and is something that any person could appreciate. It also has the plus of looking great whether it it upside down or rightside up, a nice feature for a laptop lid.

After saying that I also like the second sketch because to me it has more of a direct personallity. (I hope im making sense)

The sketch of the boat and the one of your legs are great sketches but I don't think they would work too well on a laptop for the reason that people will be constantly asking you whats the picture of when they see it upside down as your working.

I am by no means an artsy person so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Can't see the images, what happened?

try refreshing, I can see them fine, if needed be I could go angelfire or maybe ask Adam to host them. Also I will be painting it so that the person can see the painting when the lid is UP. So the painting would look upside down to me when I close the lid.
