System lockups - Part 2

I was experiencing 2 kinds of lockups. The first, well documented, was fixed with s-seven's / ATI catalyst 3.5.

The other was appearing here and there in windows apps. I would just work normally and bam ! the machine just froze. It became more and more frequent until I "repaired" windows. I could go about 4-5 weeks between repairs.

The last time it happened, I was a little more patient and guess what ? It stood idle, mouse nor anything working for about 20 seconds, then came back. Now everytime this happens I just invoke task manager (ctrl-alt-del) and wait. I always could resume work afterwards.

These are related to messages I get in event viewer:

1- The device, \Device\Ide\IdeDeviceP1T0L0, did not respond within the timeout period.
2-The device 'Slimtype DVD-ROM LSD-081' (IDE\CdRomSlimtype_DVD-ROM_LSD-081________________AMG4____\5&1db35d2e&0&0.0.0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.

Looks like my dvd player has a small problem...

Can anyone help / comment ?

Not sure, but I would try reseeating the drive(s) (also removing them from the device manager) and if it doesn't work call Sager tech support to see if it needs an RMA.
