Boost 8600 Performance on Battery

My 8600 runs Halo like a charm on AC Power, but the moment I pull the plug, gameplay slows to a crawl. All too literally. I've tried SpeedswitchXP, but I can't seem to boost my PC's performance on battery power. Does anyone know how I can do this?

You've tried changing the settings on Speedswitch and nothing changed?

Sounds like Power Play is kicking in. Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Power Play.....

When I'm playing Halo, I don't care about the battery life. Plus I'll just change the settings when I done playing.
