I just bought a 7405gx Gateway laptop.. I wanted to test cpu, memory ,hd, graphic card, monitor, any componets to see if it is working correctly. I know one good memory tester Memtest 86. I just want to make sure my laptop is in good working order if not I can exchange it

A personal favorite of mine is Passmark software. They have a few different utilities for benchmark testing and comparison. I like their performance test software and they have a trial version.

http://www.passmark.com/ You can try SiSoftware's Sandra

Or you could try Sisoft Sandra

http://www.sisoftware.net/

or FutureMark's 3DMark benchmark software.

or

there is always the DXDiag routine built into the Microsoft directx software.

This is a nice site here. It checks your processor performance, graphics, internet, memory,..... and lets you know if you have any spyware or general windows related problems. Then gives you results, reccomendations, and a score which you can compare with other simmilar systems. It keeps track so when you tweak a bit you can see your score go up (or down). Click on the full tests on the left. Takes about 2 mins.
