Sager 9860 review - Page 23

unpleased with sager 4760

Even though I was very unhappy with my Sager 4760, I was still contemplating buying the 9860. It seems totally awesome and one of the best features of PCTORQUE is that you can customize everything about the laptop. The only thin is that I wish they would have an AMD version of the notebook. And I hope the cracking sound coming from the speakers was fixed in the new version because the 4760 has a weird crackign noise ALL THE TIME!!!!!!! Its very annoying when your volume is turned up. The other thing is that Sager did nothing to alleviate the problem after I emailed them about it. Thats very unprofessional. I wish I could have something done about that because I'm not going to buy the 9860 until I know I won't have a similar problem and if I do that they'll fix the problem

Sorry to hear that you have experienced problems with the audio on your 4760 I have not experienced the same problem with mine.

I have noticed that overall the audio level is lower than I would like it to be... even at max volume, it simply isn't very loud, but no crackling noises here ...

Looking forward to the 9860, but if I have to wait much longer for the WUXGA screen I may just buy a desktop instead

You don't have to worry about the sound on the 9860..its the best i've heard on a laptop.. rich clear and fairly loud..

The Other People

When I first discovered the problem with my sager I came onto the forums and saw that there were several other people out there with the same problem. I dont know if Sager ever did anything to correct it or not. I was quite ticked off about it. If they did maybe someone could let me know.

Email: RyanG34@netzero.net

If there is a solution to this problem I will undoubtedly buy the 9860.

Can you remove one of the media drives and replace them with batteries?
There's other laptops you can do that I think it was HP

No New News

I have been waiting for a long time for new news but... nothing. So the 9860 still out of stock, (anybody know when it will be available). Also no new news about the new ATI X800 Display card which i was waiting for it till now.

Great! Can't wait for the WUXGA screen. Anyway, when will the bluetooth option be available. Also, can the processor be upgraded later on? Finally, I want 2 optical drives... do most people pick one of each, or 2 of the same type?

Thanks!

ŮŚRegarding the WUXGA i don't know if it worth or not, where i see in a review here (i don't remember where exactly), that the WUXGA is nor bright like WSXGA, and fonts are too small for those who eys is not good. i think i tend to the WSXGA. untill someone tell us more info about that.

The bluetooth is already available in the system from a while, you can choose on option from the following :
- Wireless 802.11g + bluetooth (combo internal ONE card)
- wireless 802.11g + external router.

before this time, the turbo wireless network was avaialble but i just find out its not avaialble now.

- regarding tow optical drive i think this is waste of money i don't think one need 2 drive except for the writing cd to cd. and that don't deserve to get another optical drive. if you just want another one .... so go for the cheeper extra one.

Well, I've been trolling here for a long time since one of my buddies got a pc torque laoptop quite some time ago. I have been wanting to get a new laptop for atleast a year now but have been waiting for something really special. the 9860 looks to be that reason, Like many others I am waiting for teh WuXGA screen as the stock resolutions don't appeal to me that much. I am also wondering since the activity on this thread has kinda died if there is any word on when this laptop is going to be back in stock ? Thanks for all your help and I am glad I finaley had a reason to join in and stop lurking in the shadows.

Anyone have an external battery they recommend to use with the 9860? Has anyone tried an external battery and what are the run times with the external battery?
I don't have an external battery.
But I guess the runtime would be twice as long as with one battery.
Maybe 100-120 minutes

Dear sir, as i ask a like company which sell the same laptop where all other comapnies take from one source, they told me that it will be availalbe in a week. but they have to deliver to customers in the list who make the preorder first. so may ordering it even after be in stouck where will be subject to some delay.

...... hope theses news are right. cause .... i'm waiting to.
