Hey guys,

Sorry it might be a liitle bit offtopic. But I have a photo series and some movies (MPEG) which I would like mixdown into one DVD. It should be something like a presentation with background music, there is a slideshow of pictures and suddently a movie starts playing and then the picture slideshow continue and so on.

Is there a good software which is able to do that? What do you recommend?

Thanks

Premiere is really an advanced program (expensive) but really its not that hard to use. There are tutorials out there on the net that can help you, but if you’re looking for something cost efficient, Pinnacle has a software called Studio 8, which is relatively cheap and basically does the same thing.

Using Studio 8 is pretty easy, you just import the clips and pics you want to use, edit them how you like on the timeline (cut them, fade in/out, move in different sequence) then you export them all as one movie or MPEG-2. MPEG-2 is the format you need to burn them on DVD.

Once you have your MPEG-2 file, you import that file into DVDlab, DVDlab will break it down into two files MP2 and M2V. The MP2 is the video, and M2V is the audio. If you export your movie in Premiere, Premiere will break it down for you. Once you have you clips in DVDlab, its just a matter of making a menu (or having no menu at all), "compile" to your hard drive (which is required to burn a DVD), then just straight out burning it.

The process seems difficult at first but once you get it down, it will seem like a breeze. Depending on your DVD burner, it may take up to 2 hours to burn. An 8X burner will burn a 2 hour movie in 30 minutes. Hope this helps.

Is the Dell bundled software (Record Now and MyDVD Deluxe) enough to do just a burn sequence of digital pictures on a DVD with background music? Do you recommend something else? What brand/type of blank DVD do I buy?

Take a look at http://www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotutorial for tutorials on Premiere Pro and then downlad the trial version of Premiere Pro.
