Well it sure is nice just big and ugly been thinking about switching my order to it. I think i'll just wait get what i have ordered it will do what i want it to do and is much smaller. Maybe in a couple of years they will have a smaller better looking version of it.
Do you think they will ever come out with a AMD version?
yes, they are working on one. should be out early next year.

Dual Hard Drives, Dual Optical Drives and a GeForce 6800 Go?
The exhaust ports must have also been officially reallocated as flamethrowers....

Maybe they should rename it to Moblie Desktop
post #10 of 266
I for one am glad I ordered when I did - this thing is just to big at over 10 lbs to be a mobile desktop. With what I need to do, my new lappy should last me ATLEAST for 2 years, since right now I'm running a desktop with a XP 2200 Athlon with no problems whatsoever. Maybe by then, when I'm ready to buy a new lappy, they'll have a thinner lighter version out which will be more practical. Seems to me they are RUSHING the technology out by putting it in a big fat case without doing any innovation to make it into a more practical application.

Anywho, mine is finally shipping!!! WOOT!

holy mother of god they wernt bullshitting us..
Yay, Northernwave! Glad you shipped!!

I agree with you, though - I'm glad I got the laptop I got. The new one definitely looks like it'll rock, and I'm sure the people who get it will love it, but just too big for me, and since I'm not a competitive or hardcore gamer, I can be happy with what I've got for a long time. I've got no fears of my laptop being unable to run World of Warcraft anytime soon.

For All You Guys Crying About The Size And Ect..

If you pick Area-51m 7700 Case with 17" WideSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 LCD Display with Built-in Camera - Xeno Grey , you can see you get a camera for all you talking about alienware not having a camera on the laptop, and plus how can you trash alienware, wat you expect to get a laptop like that and have all the features everyone out there wants and have it weight 8lbs??? you people must be out your mind, all i gotta say is that if the ixps was that big , ok its that big cause of the 9800 ati , but every other laptop that has all the new features weight the same as the new alienware laptop , so please if you gonna cry about the weight and expected alienware to release a 8lb laptop with those features make one up on your own see how it goes, every other company with the new features need to make there laptops bigger , so please dont come on and talk about the weight for god sakes its a desktop replacement that saves room , enough said, plus the first laptops always are the biggest and the worst until , they make up a way to make it smaller , so dont get on alienware , same size as the ixps with more power, plus when the new ixps comes out its gonna be the same size if not bigger , so please folks get a grip and understand what is going on....thanks

Ps. Yea i know one messed up paragraph , sue me!!!!

I was going to say, It seemed like you could have condensed that into the 2 sentences that you said over and over and over again

BTW, the iXPS was big even when it only had the 9700.

Craig, what is your take on AW's decision to release this notebook? Do you approve? Dissapointed?

Do you think they will just stick with this particular model, or do you think they will also release something more like the current A51 (something not that big and heavy)?
interesting.....i dont see anything about "upgradable graphics" on the PCI-E lapper...could it be they have abandoned it?
