let the phases begin - Page 3

well i just phoned them once again today
first off all, i found out, that my system is produced in ireland, and not in the u.s, so our systems will be putted together in different places
(which are both way slow nevertheless )

I told them that i am about to cancel my order because i do not feel like a serious taken customer anymore (phase 5 last week end, phase 6 this week end ).
The guy from alienware offered me then, to put my system on "high priority status" and also he said he would take care personally and by phone, that my sys will be done rapidly.

The problem with alienware customer service is, that, when you talk to them, everything seems perfect - great service, very polite etc...

But if they only would act like they speak....

Anyway, i will give them a last chance to get things going until wednesday.
If i am still lower than phase 8 by then, i do not have any contract with this company anymore...

By the way: the price of my system dropped by 50 Euros during the waiting time, which the employee from alienware assured me, to payback.

(please excuse my english, i am not sure that everything i wrote can be said in english by the words i have chosen , hope that it will be understandable )

phase 9

threatening them with canceling my order at least did help me out of this

wow, from 6 to 9 in just one day

hey duke, welcome here

@ alien No, they have a german site, with german speaking employees ( they have some british accent). So i called the (free) number on german aw site...
And i did it yesterday, when i was in a veeeery bad mood
Sometimes it is really helpful, to have a bad day...

System arrived today

I will post a full review in a couple of days (when i have the time...)

First impressions:

1. The System looks completely awesome. It is much (MUCH) more beautiful right in front of you than on any picture... I am still heavily impressed by that .

2. The 200 point alienware check is a little exagerration...
On my system there were NOT the latest ati-videocard drivers installed, and the catalyst control center showed me an error when i tried to launch it. This was not such a big thing, after a driver update and a little google research i knew that i had to update microsoft framework to get the catalyst control center running. So my system is now running with the latest drivers and a running catalyst control center. Didn't even need aw tech-support to solve these minor problems... Oh..., and I removed the Alienguise - crap

3. After installing my software, music etc. , it was time to run some benchmarks .
In my opinion, the results are just insane, and i am again very happy with my purchase:

3dmark2003 default settings: ~ 12000 3dmarks
3dmark2005 default settings: ~ 5500 3dmarks
doom3 timedemo 1024 x 768 ultra detail: ~ 90 fps

4. After that i went playing some doom3 @ 12xx X 10xx resolution with 2 X antialiasing - everything smooth, no lags etc...
Playing doom3 on such a system is just a whole new gaming experience - better than i expected...

5. I care much about sound (music) quality, so i purchased a pair of active high resolution speakers (Behringer Truth B2031A), each with its own 80w amp.
(I don't have a high opinion on all these plastic-crap creative or logitech surround system things).
Well - listening to your music or watching dvds is big fun with the soundblaster audigy... when it is combined with some good speakers. I would recommend anyone buying a high class computer like alienware, to purchase also a good speaker solution (behringer, genelec, syrincs etc... )
You will not regret it (and an alienware doesn't deserve bad speakers )

Conclusion so far:
The system is better than i expected (better look, better benchmark, better gaming experience), so the waiting time was completely worth it...
