Hey Turmoil, I dont switch hit, but that was pretty good. I have only been an Alienware owner for a few months now, but I would find it hard to believe that a company would hang that many of its customers out to dry.

Hey everyone at notebookforums.com, this is my first post on this forum. Also will be getting my first laptop tomorrow, pretty excited about it. I will probly post what i think about it tomorrow, after I rip everything out of the inside and put what I want in it.

But this topic is what brought me to these forums. I just bought an Alienware Area-51m and was looking to find more information about the 9800 mobility. Hopefully I didn't just buy an obsolete laptop. I too would be satisfied with the 9800 mobility, but further upgrades would be great. If I remember right, from some of the reviews I have read, these are based on the same technology as the X800's and will out perform a desktop 9800, which I think on a laptop would be quite impressive.

Hardly see how you could be excited about a pokey old laptop if you've already got what's listed in your sig...

mobile gaming made easier Ever try moving a 20lb Antec case with Tygon tubing coming out every hole possible, just to go over to a friends house to setup a LAN game or two?

Keep two things in mind:

1. There have been a total of five Video Card modules released for the 5500. I don't think any other company offered that many different cards for a specific laptop.

2. Technology changes. It's something we have to live with.

I am not trying to burst your bubbles, but I would be suprised if another card came out.

I dont see why they shouldnt Try to keep making cards for all thier products, and other upgrades for that matter. As long as they dont loose money on it I think they should. If they made a 9800 for my 5500 I would be willing pay prolly 300+ for it, and im sure alot of others would as well. It might not be the most profitable since alienware has a new line of laptops, but i doubt they would even come close to losing money on it.
