Help: notebook just shuts off

Everytime I play Quake 3, it shuts off after 5 minutes. Everytime I try to render my DV clips in Adobe Premiere or After Effects, it shuts off. Everytime I decrypt a DVD, it shuts off. Please give me a solution to this problem.

Notebook: Fujitsu N3010.

It could probably be an overheating problem. But after playing Quake for 5 minutes, it shuts off even if it wasn't hot in the first place. I don't think 5 minutes can heat it up that quickly. And if i'm wrong, what can I do about it?

It isn't the hibernation mode since I already deselected it. It isn't my battery since it's fully charged.

I can't even edit my video which is due in a week

5 minutes is long enough...
monitor your temps and get a notebook cooler...
whats the stats on your notebook??

Well actually it might be because it overheats. I just monitored my computer while running prime95 and found that it shuts down at 87C. What's the best notebook cooler?

87 degrees??
Wow... check your fans and make sure they are all working correctly... you should never be reaching temps that high...
Is that reading just from the case or an actual CPU temp??
You don't want your cpu reaching 90 degrees... thats way on the high end for safe operation..

As far as the laptop cooler... I couldn't say.. I'm still trying to figure that out myself... its really dependant on the design of your laptop... check reviews online...

my acer aspire 2025 keeps cpu temp around 58 d c normal things and with more intense stuff around 77 not more.
