You know, when I first saw the 9100 on the Dell website, I was really excited by the specs and vid card etc, then in all honesty, when I saw the pictures of it, I thought it looked ugly. I was kinda disappointed with how it looked on paper (web page)
Well, I bought it anyway, and was really pleasantly surprised when it turned up. I had used a friends 8600 extensively for 2 months prior to getting my 9100 and the sturdiness and solid feel of the 9100, the better keyboard, compared to the flex and lightness of the 8600 really impressed me.
After using it for a month, I started to really love the size and shape and now when I look at an 8600 in real life, it just looks like a toy (just my opinion) compared to the 9100.
Do you notice sometimes when a new model car is released (eg the Latest Ford Falcon) how most people say they don't like the new shape, but after 6 months they love it and the old shape now looks "old" ?? I don't know why this is but when I first bought my I5000 years ago, I thought it looked really cool and modern, now, even though it is in mint condition mechanically and cosmetically, it just looks "old" The shape has dated.
So, if you don't like the 9100 thats cool, try one for a few months and you might change your mind, you might not, thats cool, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that eye changes focus with time and experience.....
