Hi All,

Sitting in front of my brand spanking new 3790 and so far so good except for one thing - the wireless connection.

After installing Inte PROset, nothing is showing up in the control panel.

Device manager shows

Network Adapter
- 1394 Adapter
- Realtek xxxxx Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC

Other Devices
- ? Network Controller

Card looks to be seated fine and cables are all look ok. Any ideas on what could be wrong???

Thanks.

update your driver to 8.1.0.28 (on the Intel website, the highest version before the 9 series, which don't seem to work)...if you haven't already. The one that comes with the computer doesn't work all that well.

I also went and installed 9.0.1.9 on my 3790. I find that it works most of the time, but it'll lose the connection or go from 54Mbps to 24Mpbs (i'm sitting 5 feet from the wireless router) and just hang for a minute or two very sporadically.

Is this a known issue with the 9.x drivers that the 8.x drivers would fix?

strange the edit button does not appear for me when I browse these forums on my 3790 for some reason. I can't edit my posts! yikes I hope I don't type something stupid.

I got my 3790 to connect to my wireless hub. now the old dell laptop that we use solely as a spare surfboard won't connect. Basically I think my problem was that I didn't know how to enter the WEP code on Windows XP Pro. It is different enough from Windows 2000 to confuse me. So I think I just entered it wrong. I have my WEP code memorized but it either starts or ends in BD and I always forget which. I may have entered it the wrong way and couldn't figure out how to fix it. Anyway, I called Verizaon DSL and they routed me through the whole agonizing diagnostic procedure and then they bumped me to Linksys for further standard diagnostic procedures with a hard to understand Indian woman on the other end. Still never figured out how to change/enter the WEP code on Windows XP Pro, but the Indian woman had me just reset the hub so it doesn't need a code. I want to add a WEP code again to protect my network but the Indian woman says I need to download the latest firmware from Linksys because I could not talk to my router (forgot username and password).

with my 3790 the v9 series drivers solved a few problems... goodbye limited conectivity ;p
but i installed the drivers only, i let xp manage the connections.

I may try the 9 series driver. I am tempted to leave well enough alone for a while though, because it is working now. If I experience problems, I will definitely update to the 9 series.
