Got my 9860 today and thought I would post some benchmarks

Aquamark
1074 x 768 x 32
AA: off
Aniso: 4x
Details: Very High
FPS 42.22
Score 42.218

3Dmark03
Same as above +
Texture filtering optimal
Vertex Shader optimal

Score 7088

Basic 9860 configuration
512 MB Ram
P4 3.0 processor

Pretty much in line with PCTorques numbers. Not bad.

Not bad Flats..Im glad you were able to get it in time ... are your benches at stock settings? How is the screen?

PCTorque really came through. At least I have a few days to get the bugs worked out before I have to go.

So far everything is working well. The screen is really nice. I prefer WSXGA over WUXGA anyway. Everything is at stock settings. Really no need to begin overclocking anything yet.

Damn dude!! thats some impressive scores for a NOTEBOOK, sheeze my desktop runs 43,000 on aquamark??? thats CRAZY , can you have some pictures of it with your hands over the keyboard, so I can see how wide and big this BEAST is! I really want one now ,but don't know if I like the width of it?

Did a bit of experimental overclocking. Overclocked using powerstrip to 300/640. 3Dmark03 score increased from 7088 to 8085. Did not appear to be any stability problems. Didn't want to overclock as high as PCTorque since I was just testing things out. Don't want to jeopardize a $3000 investment just yet.

Flats, what rpm HD did you get?

On the topic of benchmarks, I thought I'd see how far my 9860 would go and the highest 3DMark 2001SE Build 330 score I could get out of it was 19,538. This however was achieved by the maximum overclock that I could get it to run at (365/704MHz - GPU/Memory) which produced a few intermittent artifacts (glitches), combined with a super tweaked XP installation (perfectly defragged hard drive and no non-essential background services or tasks running) and having the video driver (v. 6.14.10.6750) image quality setting set to high performance and the Direct3D mipmap detail set to best performance with no Antialiasing or Anisotropic filtering.

A word of WARNING though, after achieving this score I re-ran the benchmark and it scored under 17K indicating that either one/more of the pipelines had started to malfunction or it was scaling back due to overheating - I had to turn the computer off for a few minutes and set the GPU/Memory back to 346/686MHz before it would return to normal - this is definitely near the absolute limit of this video card.

WOOOOOOOOT 695 core
With such a high speed for the core, I believe it should theoratically bepossible to run it safely @ 400 core right?

andrepeterhill can you pls test it @ 400 core and default mem speed to see if it runs stable and without artefacting in 3Dmark2k3?

hm...why i don´t believe he actually achieved this gpu-freq. ?
maybe he ment 395?!

plz respond, would be very interesting to know

Sorry TVR, I was tired when I posted this it should've read 365/704MHz - I'll correct it now.

Sorry KWAGGA, 695MHz Core was a typo it should've read 365MHz which is the highest core I've been able to get it to run at, incidentally the memory speed has more of an impact on 3D benchmarks (proportionally) than the GPU core speed.

Thanks, I've been wondering about what the max was and I stopped right below you on my own test.. Think I ran 344/699 or some such.. Very impressive overclock scores..

71.2 driver

I updated my drivers to 71.2 as posted on laptopvideo2go.com. Stock benchmarks increased from 7088 to 7137 (3DMark03) and 2763 to 2980 (3DMark05). Still can't get Aquamark3 to run all the way through since the first day I owned the laptop. All games I've played run well with this driver.

Has anyone figured out why aquamark3 won't run correctly and either freezes up or reboots the computer?
