Clear bios

How do I clear the bios in my brothers thinkpad as he forgot the Pass word.
Thanks for any info.

You are NOT going to clear the BIOS.

Your only option is to call IBM, prove ownership, and send it in to them for service.

If this is a stolen Thinkpad, you are out of luck.

I was mistakin it had no passwd to begin with that only happened after he tried to install the new hd that it asked for a passwd

What a pain in the arse that would be to send it in for a forgotten password... better than stolen though, I guess. Though I figure if someone steals it, then finds that the bios is locked, they're not very likely to give it back, prolly salvage the parts... Anyone here use a pass on their BIOS?

hi,
I have the same problem with an IBM netfinity. Employee who had that info was terminated and now we cant figure out how to unlock the BIOS.... I really didnt want to deal with contacting/sending it into IBM if i could avoid it.
