Not the BB I work at. I work in NY. I guess it's just the management of certain stores being nicer than others.

Nope...it's people not following SOP if they open any notebook before a customer has paid for it.

Mine had one dead pixel at the bottom in the tool bar area. I would have exchanged it for another but BB had no more in stock at the time. I have since learned to live with it and only notice it on boot up now...

Yea. Perhaps management in other stores is more "forgiving". If so, I wonder what their shrink levels are.

so I think that they bend the rules to keep the customers happy? Wow, thats a first

What im wondering now is if I can get back my $53 that I payed to have it sent back.

note to notewriter: I wish I had a dead pixel at the bottom. Mine is right in the center.

paradigm, just to let you know: my friend bought a BRAND NEW iBook a few months back from macconnection.com. When he received it, it had a bright spot and 2 dead pixels right out of the box. And we're not talkin corners or off to the side. One of the dead pixels and the bright spot are right smack dab in the middle of the screen. The other pixel is off to the side and into the corner somewhere. Case in point: he decided to stick with it and just not let the psychological issues of it get to him because of the cost of sending it out for repair and losing his product for weeks at a time. I just sent in my Gateway for a cracked hinge and honestly, this is taking too long. It's been over a week and Gateway told me they haven't even RECEIVED it yet. Best to not spend so much money and hassle yourself and just stick with it. Especially since you went through one return already.

man thats screwed up that it was brand new.

I keep thinking these m6805s have dead pixels cause they are refurbs,

But then again it is eMachines policy that one must have 4 to do an RMA>

So if my theory was correct then this should have 4 dead/bright pixels

Companies usually have a policy where you have to have a certain amount of dead pixels before repairing. But I remember a lot of times if there were some in the center of the screen that was different and treated more seriously.

Did you tell them that it's around the center of the screen and is a huge distraction, not just some dead pixel near the edges?

I had one dead pixel, or stuck, it was red, not sure. Luckily it was on the bottom left above the taskbar. I only notice it sometimes. Though, with some games the red pixel often ends up in a radar and you get mixed up thinking it's something in the game.

If morals is out the window, you can always kill a few more pixels yourself.

After all, morals doesn't seem to be part of their equation, since they have a somewhat secretive policy on how they can sell you a defective screen.

From emachines site:
"We've added a new Screen Protection feature - when you purchase an ESP, your notebook and screen will be fully covered. You'll have peace of mind knowing that your investment will be protected for years!"
http://www.emachines.com/support/warranty_info.html#

Does this mean that if you buy the ESP and you find any dead/stuck pixels emachines will replace the screen?

Hmm... I wonder if my existing extended from eMachines is valid for stuck pixels... I've had one from first boot. Hasn't really bothered me tho.

There is one way that is certainly not guaranteed to bring dead or stuck pixels back to life, it worked for me. Vasically, turn the machine on and have a nice colour in the background so you can see the offending pixel clearly. Then, take a dry piece of lint free cloth and gently (and i mean gently) massage the area around the dead pixel. You will know how hard to push. I did this for a while and the pixel came back on properly full colours and everything. I take no responsibility for you screwing your screens by pushing your fingers right through the lcd, be gentle
