Computer freezes? Program crashes? Explain what you mean by "it just stops".

using the MR9700? I think 80% of the the users on this site that started with a 9700 had this problem. If so, follow this link:

Should solve all your problems regardless of the path you choose with the help!

Good luck!

move your mouse over "My Computer" and right click properties. You'll see a series of tabs. Click on "hardware" and then "device manager". in there you will see a list of all your installed hardware including your CD, the LCD screen, et al. Click on "display drivers". that will say either ATI Radeon 9700 or 9800. This is your graphics card, and I'm pretty sure yours will be a 9700, just based on my own experience with this card

If it is, you saw the other thread giving you some ideas on how to solve the problem. These guys and gals are amazing. Their solutions are very involved and leads to a tough, but gratifying learning curve if you have an interest in understanding how your pieces and parts interact. My solution was much simpler, as I tend to freeze, then panic a little when new equipment goes kablooey on me: download the Omega Driver from www.omegadrivers.net

Keeps asking questions, I think this forum, particulary the 9100/XPS group, is quite awesome!

yeah i have the 9700 card. i had already looked at that post but one guy just got his card replaced and the other one had a solution but i dont see the tab he is talking about...
would the omega drivers solve the problem? is there any issues or concerns with them?
No, No issues other than some people prefer the Dell/ATI drivers over the Omegas. But in this case, you don't have much of a choice, and the Omegas allow extra tweaks you can't get from ATI.

Solved my 9700 problem, I was extremely happy. Go for it!
