I am buying or potentially buying a laptop from someone and this is the deal;
I've been told that the motherboard may need some repair. (It sometimes doesn't like to boot up-will give an "Operating System Not Found" error and scandisk will find and repair a boot sector error) or the HD just needs replacing. Not sure which is the problem-I've consulted several repair places and gotten those two answers. Aside from that and a small crack by the right hinge,it's in excellent shape. No other problems. System is as follows:
Dell Inspirion 2600
30 gig HD
128 RAM
Intel Celeron
CD-RW drive
3.25 Floppy Drive
Win XP Home
802.11B wireless card
56K modem
15' LCD (perfect, no dead pixels)
I have a HD from my 2600 that died a few months ago and I think that this laptop is having HD problems, so I will try putting mine in, does anyone think it is the motherboard or the HD? and why? Thank you!
