Hello 8887 Forum,

I have a 8887 obviously and for the most part use the touchpad, but when I do use an external mouse the scroll button (middle) does not work. I saw one post that mentioned the touchpad driver was the culprit. Can anyone help me. I need to use my external mouse (PS/2) with scroll button.

Thanks in advance,
AirJosh

Hello, AirJosh!

First, the obvious question: does the scroll wheel work on other computers? (i.e. make sure the mouse isn't bad).

Next: try another mouse. I'd recommend a USB one, but even an old PS/2 one should do it... does the same thing happen?

Also: do you have a PS/2-to-USB converter? (actually, I've seen USB-to-PS/2, but not vice-versa, so maybe this isn't possible): check to see if the USB port works better.

Finally: you can uninstall the touchpad drivers (Synaptic? forget the company) and use whatever windows finds for it. It isn't as advanced as the mfg's drivers, but they also work. See if the generic windows drivers and PS/2 mouse play nicely.

Just my $0.02 worth,
