I had to embarrassingly had to repost my object in the For Sale section, seems this stupid jerk not only threw out all the garbage and all the boxes that accumulated!

I also forgot I switched the big box with DVD+R/RW drive to the smaller box. What it comes down to is I threw my new never used Dell DVD+R/RW & CD-R/RW down in the garbage chute I live on the 3rd floor to land in smithereens never to be used at all!

Edit: I found it I didn't throw the DVD+R/RW but the CD-R down the chute, so rp3 you will get it Priority Mail with reinstallation disc.

"back in the day" of tiny card switches, I threw caution to the wind and was taking a modem card in/out of the PC with the power on. To my credit, that was after 30 minutes of off/modify card/on/off/mod card, etc. and a lot of foul language.

There was a pop and a small waft of blue smoke rose from the chip on my scanner card. Seems while placing the modem card back in, I came a bit to close to another card and arc'd the suckers.

Loss: one scanner card and my pride.

Two:

1) I somehow lost all my data on my Dell XPS-T. My folder was created on the desktop and when I restarted after aborting a program install. Luckily, this was over the summer and I did not have anything that was absolutely necessary on the computer. Of course I did lost all documents of value to me...

2) Dropping my notebook (the 8600) because the bag it was in had a strap snap on me. Luckily no internal damage; only a few cracks. (At least, that's all I can see.)

My 5 year old daughter spilled a diet Dr Pepper in the key board of my Compaq Laptop. I quickly turned it off wiped the keyboard with a very moist cloth and kept blowing compressed air around the keyboard. The computer had to dry for a couple of days, but has worked flawlessly since. So far no incidents with my Dell.

when i was an undergrad, we used a program called minitab which brought on many frustrations, and many computers being thrown out the windows in frustration.

I spilled a full glass of lemonade all over my Thinkpad, and it died within seconds, never to wake up again. I froze for a couple of seconds, never pulled the power-cord but insted put it into hibernate mode which probably killed it

Opened it up and the lemonade was all over the MB, graphic card etc.

The good thing is that i had to buy a new computer, and thats why i got my inspiron 8600 i have today.

I would probably still be on my thinkpad, and never have found this forum if it wasn't for the lemonade accident!

when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

when you get lemonade, fry your computer.

and buy a new one.

^^^

I was logged into both my production web server and my test server through ssh from my laptop. I typed rm -rf ....... then realized I was on the wrong window. Lost my entire web site, webmail, and shared files. Took a whole weekend to restore (most of it) from old backups.

Someone on the forums had there laptop (apple i think) in the back of their pt crusier when it got totalled, and even though it was bent and the screen was broken they tried hooking it up to another monitor and it worked. Im sure the pictures are around somewhere, but i have no time to look

Yes, I remember that one. This thing that looked like road kill hooked up to a monitor and working flawlessly!!! Crazy!!!

Whenever I see this kind of talkit does 2 things to me...........

#1.) Totally intrigues me......(Other people's demise is just totally entertaining.....like watching somebody take a shot to the gnads on AFV........it's funny later, but not funny then!!!!)

#2.) Makes me seriously consider the "Complete Care" from Dell!!!!
