Hi, I'll retun my i9100 because the headphones out It's defective; Dell changed my the fan 2 a couple of times, but the headphones the sound It's distorted.

I have heard hummm problems with this inspiron, but mine It's by far most than a simple hummm; the sound it's awfull and dell don't have solution.

Too, my i9100 came with a nec dl +/- unit; I think that it's flashed by dell (was a surprise for me the dvd - ability), but the bad news it's that the cd burns don't work properly in my divx player; if I burn the same file in dvd media, now work, by in cd not; The divx player work with all my cd and dvd burners, nec 2500 and sony, but not with this.

For this and the headphones issue I'll return my lap with pain;

I hope impatient a new model, perhaps 9300 or a i9200 with a mr9800;

There somebody with a xps/i9100 headphones output working properly? May be I reconsider order a new 9100;

thanks.

Mine works fine. I've been told that headphones with heavier wiring cause less hum. Somebody in here might be able to give you technical details on the how and why.

The problem is well knowned and doccumented basically its caused by the videocard fan and you can only hear it with high end headphones nothing cheap can seem to pick up the noise. There is no solution to this problem sorry.

Had the problem ... the fan replacement appears to have corrected it.

That's the only issue I've had with my machine.

My headphone jacks are great! They sound just as clear as the Audigy 2 ZS Gamer on my desktop.
