new format

I don't like the new format at all. I loved the fact that there was a forum dedicated to my sager laptop and me as a user/owner of such an awesome lappy.

It just kind of takes away from the specifics of Sager laptops and I think it will hurt sales because the only reason why I bought a Sager for 3 grand + at the time with taxes etc is because of this forum.

For instance, if I go into gaming, and I have issues, I don't care what a Dell user is going through. They got their own forum and so should we.

i don t think it will hurt sager s sales but i kinda agree with you. i think the move is to keep things organised.. this forum was taking the risk of growing like a monster with 50 heads....

i m a future sager user nd i don t really think i ll ever surf in the toshiba, dell alienware forum etc etc..but many ppl already own one of those system and it is a great opportunity to make "the switch" withing a community...

it will be ( i hope) easier to search etc etc..well we ll see..

I think this is great. Extending the capacity of the forum to cover other areas increases the amount of info. that will be stored here. This won't of course degrade the usual sager talk but will definitely attract a lot more people to this forum ffrom various places, especially big brand names with crap support. Also, this move will no doubt let more people know about Sagernotebooks and Pctoruqe, a kind of advertisement you could call it.

woah very nice to say the least!, much more organization and very easy to find what you are looking for! except i want to know the release / order date of the new 5 series... oh well im off for a week long vacation in NH, a week w/o internet / sager updates hopefully new laptops will be ready when im back.

I think this new format is a great idea, as it helps keep the content focused, while encouraging people interested in other brands to come here ... to learn about Sagers ... see the light ... and increase Sager sales ... which will ultimately mean lower prices for the rest of us as PCTorque's volume increases ...

Yeah I guess so, than at least put a sager logo or something that clearly says this is our turf! but all invited you know what i'm sayin'? I can't stand self-righteous Dell, MaC users even though I've been a user of all these brands + toshiba, sony etc.

But i guess you're right that it's better advertising.

I agree that will be very good for PCTORQUE because people will be attracted to the site looking for toshiba or dell information and find Sager, and their amazing laptops. However, the reason I was first compelled to join these forums was the sense of community from people like beebster and gsferrari, back when they were both active members, around January. There was a much more friendly, close knit feel about the forums that I really liked but I guess that is just something that goes away when the forums get more popular. This was all back then there were no flame wars, and the "noobies" question got answered without someone saying "use the search feature" this has already been discussed. Oh well, I guess this is something we just have to deal with, considering the size the forums have become.

EDIT: I will still be typing sagerforums.com, not talknotebooks.com. I think you know what I mean.

I think "noobies" questions are still answered, for the most part. However, if there are 10x's the "noobies" joining up, and the same amount of "old timers" answering them, well, you do the math!

Besides, 6 out of 5 mathematicians prefer the new layout!

Sorry some of you don't like it, if it doesn't work out we can always go back. It's just recently we've had others that the Sager just isn't right for them, but they were into the whole notebook gaming and LAN party attitude. Many have said they wish there was a layout like we had for their laptop line so we figured we'd give it a shot. If it doesn't attract many people outside the Sager group then that's fine because the forums are #1 for the Sager peeps.

I would love to see some non-endorsed reviews from the ave Joe tech on here of all brands.

Hello. I would like to say that I really like the new format. This is a Sager forum but I think giving users the opportunity to see what others are offering, seeing different technologies, being able to compare and contrast different laptops will help the user make a well informed decision when it comes to purchasing a laptop. When the new Sagers hit and the new Alienware and the new Dell's etc.. hit the market, people can see for themselves which way they want to go. It gives people the opportunity to compare the Sagers with other brands and I believe that a lot more people will come to this site and get a chance to see for themselves what Sager and PC Torque are all about. The Sagers are very solid, top of the line machines, there really is not much out there that can compete with Sager and PC Torque. There are a few other pc makers that can compete and this forum will give these people the opportunity to see if the Sager is the machine for them. The more people attracted to this site, the more people will learn about PC Torque and Sager; and this reply coming from someone who, 3 months ago, did not even know about PC Torque and nothing about Sager....

I prefer something specific to Sager/Clevo. We should have kept the riff-raff out of here.

I do not like the new forums! It was hard enough to hit up all of the categories as it was, but now it is just simply impossible. While I could be convinced that Alienware needs its own section, I am of the strong opinion that the dell/toshiba/compaq sections need to go.

When forums get too big to handle then they are no longer fun/informative to browse.

YMMV

You could only just stick around the Sager Specific section... I mean, it's not that tough to ignore any riff-raff you do not wish to mingle with.

I have to agree with ssweig on this one, though. It never hurts to have a good mixture of people and different products. Win-Win for the consumer, really.

I think its alright, lets see what happens as adam stated. It might draw a ****load of people towards sager. I mean I didnt even know anything about sager till I found out about alienware.

the more media the better or so I think, adam will find out in a month or two.

I have kind of a mixed opinion on it. One one hand i do want to hear all the problems Dell Toshiba and HP/Compaq has and see their pics and benchmarks and stuff. But on the other hand one of the main reasons i'm still here is the sence of community.

I don't really see it as a problem untill it grows too large...plus you really can't blame PcTorque for capitalizing on an almost certain opprunity to increase sales. The only thing i ask is that Sager always stays on the top of the list and if anyone asks...these are the SAGERFORUMS!!!!

still getting used to the new format.. not sure whether to love it or loath it.. I think it might be better if the off topic section and notebook general were moved up a little bit..

Yeah I think that would be a good idea so then it kind of looks like the old version but still has the functionality of the new version. Someone want to make a vote? I also noticed that the chat appears to be gone.

I think the idea of the new forum could work out, but personally I think there should have been some kind of sticky announcing the possiblity of the new sections along with a vote to see if most users would like the change (If there was some kind of annoucement and I missed it I applogize).
