INtel Wireless nic crashes my AX7(4750) - Page 2

Bump... I believe this is the same issue I posted about. Sorry I didn't use search first.

You have to be kidding right? I've contacted Sager through email and phone, they are supposed to call today, dunno about that. In any case that's the only work around to this?

I've also noticed that I have an "unknown device" in my device manager. No relation to what it is, but i'm more or less thinking it's related to the wireless card as I only crash when I disconnect the cable and go wireless.

Do/did any of you have an "unknown device" when this problem started??

Also related to the "unknown device" is the Device Instance - ACPI\VIA something for you to check out as well.

I just got my Sager 4750 yesterday and it came with the intel wi-fi card. I have been experiencing terrible stability issues. Such as freezing at bootup, not being able to reboot (the computer beeps 4 times, fans do initial spin up, screen stay completely blank and the power light stays on, after about 2 min all the fans spin up to full blast and nothing happens).

If this is what you were experiencing then that might explain it, otherwise I think I'm looking at some sort of heat issue. Considering that I'm dual booting win xp and win xp x64, and can not load up either for about 30min afterwards, I fear my problem is much more serious.

Please let me know if these are the same problems you were experiencing.

-Thanks

I had Sager send me the Gigabyte wireless card to replace the intel, you should do the same. Your best bet is through email (go to Sager website) and ask for an RMA. They'll issue you one. You will have to open your 4750, remove the hard drive and the intel - which is a bit scary at first but in the end its not that hard.
I can't believe they're still shipping this model with the intels. How incompetent.

That sounds alot more serious. Sounds like the laptop is over heating and probably also having issues from the nic card. My system worked fine untill i loaded up a web browser or tried to transfer some files over the lan.

An interesting thing hypersonic told me is that the intel card is compatible, but i cannot install powernow!. Maybe sager is shipping 4750's without powernow, possibly causing your heat issues?

Also, crystalCPUID is incompatible with the 4750 when the intel card is installed. It causes imminant lock ups when multiplier management is enabled.
