If you are on broadband, just buy it via steam...it has no sales tax and can save you a few bucks. Plus you never need CDs to run/install the game.
Meh, I would rather have the cd's (six of them) physically in my hands for some reason.

If you buy a HL2 on Steam and save it to one computer, can I install it on a different computer w/ out having to buy it again? (I'm asking because I want to be able to play this on my laptop & my soon-to-be-built desktop.

Yes you can. Steam is great...you can login to it on any computer anywhere in the world and your Valve catalogue will be available to you. Its going to be the norm in 5 years...you watch.
THNX Craig I think I might actually use Steam now that that's cleared up.
once you download it from steam can you burn it to disc.
Yeah if I go thru steam and download it to my old computer an I (When my new alien comes) want to then download it to my new one will they charge me again?
Can you install it on as many computers as you like to?
I dunno there is something to actually holding those cd's or dvd in your hands.

You can install it as many times as you want on as many different machines as you want. The thing is that you will only be able to play one of them online at a time...they're still using a Key registration.

I think broadband needs to be revamped for steam to be the norm. I think it would a neat idea to lay down gigabit ethernet across the nation, then it would take seconds, not hours, to download games.
So, did anyone buy it yet? From BB that is?
The box is quite a disappointment actually

After all this hype I expected to see a metal box as standard or option...bleh!

But the game will still kick ass and I cannot wait!!!
i almost dont wanna get it till i get an alien so my gateway doesnt butcher the graphics, but its only 6 months old, im sure it can handle it just fine

I'm sitting here... waiting... endlessly waiting... I think I'm going to set up a cooler full of bawls to bring me until 3:00... then go straight through the night, through school, and finally until 9-10 tomorrow. Or I'll just leave steam running overnight and play it in the morning

lol

I have a question, if we buy off or steam will the game be available at midnight tonight? the reason i ask is because i heard viviendi wants everyone to have authorization to play the game at the EXACT same time, so stores in austraila can't even sell the game untile 7 PM..seems a little overboard to me
post #39 of 282
No use...I am not gonna camp out overnight because there is no MIDNIGHT release like they had for Halo 2.

I am surprised...Halo 2 was more anticipated than Half Life 2 ??

Now I have to wait until 10:00 am to get the game from the store
