Hey folks,
I need your help.
A few months ago I purchased a Toshiba 80 gig 5400 HD which I replaced my TV Tuner card with.
To make a long story short, the speed was HORRIBLE (considerably slower than my firewire external 80 gig) and after a while the hard drive would freeze and cease to function during window's operations (ie, the little yellow triangle surrounding an exclamation point would pop up in the toolbar, and the "D:" would disappear in "My Computer". I would reboot, and sometimes it would reappear, and sometimes it wouldn't. This system would have to remain off for a while.
Thinking it was the HD, I had it replaced by Toshiba. Guess what... the new HD has the same damned problem.
Basically, I think it is heat. However, what I wanted to know was: putting the HD in a different bay make a difference? Perhaps a cleaner install? Also, I set the jumper as follows (the 'O's' represent the jumper). Would this have anything to do with it?
.O ....................
.O ....................
I am running an 8890 with 2 7200 60 gigs at raid 0. Anyone have any ideas how to correct this?
Thanks a bunch, guys.
