Wireless Problems in 4760

I just got my 4760 yesterday, and I installed Windows XP Professional. I started to install the drivers in the order indicated by the manual, but when I got to the wirless drivers and I turned the wirless switch to on, I couldn't toggle between WiFi and Bluetooth using Fn+F12. I installed the drivers anyway, but I still cannot toggle. I've got a wirless 802.11g network, so I know that the WiFi works, but I don't have any Bluetooth devices yet so I'm not sure about Bluetooth. Anyway, their not suppose to be used together, but I cannot toggle to the individual ones. My mail light just keeps blinking with half orange half green, even when the switch is turned off and even during startup/shut down.

I think that the problem may be that SP1 needs to be installed first in order to enable USB (the integrated wirless cards run through USB). Anyways, if anyone else has a better solution, I'd love to hear it because I really don't feel like reinstalling. Thanks in advance.

Did you get XP with your laptop? If so, SP1 would be "rolled in" with the CD. If you are using a previous copy (i.e. older) than yes, try the SP1 and let us know if that clears it up.

Well, I've reinstalled twice now and it still hasn't solved my problem. I tried installing SP1 before installing any drivers, and then I tried to install SP1 just before installing the wireless drivers. In any case, I still cannot toggle between WiFi and Bluetooth. I'm begining to think that the Fn+F12 switch is not influenced by the OS, but is integrated (not really sure). Please, anyone with some idea please post.

Oh I forget to say. No I didn't get XP with the computer. I have an older version that doesn't have SP1 already on the CD.

I'm not an expert at these things, but I own a 4760 and mine works fine. Mine came with XP-pro installed and there is an icon in my taskbar called "Hotkey Setup" and it starts up with a file called mHotKey.exe. I'm sure that this program controls the email, WWW and application buttons on the computer near the on/off switch, but I am unsure if this program controls the F12 key.

Well, Matt, I am not sure what the deal is. It looks like you might want to e-mail Sager (I prefer e-mailing them vs. calling them) and see if they have any insight or tips.

If you do resolve this, please post the solution here for future users that may have similar difficulties.

Thanks, and sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Well, Life still sucks

I talked to a tech support guy at Prostar. After spending hours convincing him that there is nothing wrong with the order in which I installed things and that yes Fn+F12 does not solve my problem. He showed me where the dip switches were for the wireless cards. Unfortunately, he just told me to switch them before telling me which order they should be in. Then, after this didn't work, he told me that the original configuration was correct and that I should switch them back. Those damn switches are so incredibly hard to get to on this computer. Anyway, now he wants me to reinstall again just for the hell of it. As if the other four times somehow weren't evidence enough that this ISNT GOING TO WORK! Anyways, I'm thinking that I am going to either find a XP CD with SP1 or order a new 4760 from PCTORQUE and return this one to M-Tech (that way I might be able to sort of cross ship and not be without a computer). Anyone know what the wait is for a 4760 from PCTORQUE. Adam, please help me out here.

wait should not be long

Yes, I am having the same problem with my Sager 4780, the Bluetooth device is not recognized. I was told by a technical assistant that a jumper has to be reconfigured and he wants me to send the machine in for that job. I would very much like to avoid that, however I cannot do it myself without either the service manual (unavailable from Clevo to end-users) or some help from this forum... I wait for the latter! Thanks.
