Don't know if this has been posted yet but this one is new from Averatec. I been wondering when they would start using the Athlon 64 for their notebooks and this is a pretty good start! It also plays DVD movies and CDs without the need to start it, wich I think explains the included remote. This feature saves enough batterylife to watch 3 movies on one charge if I remember right, as is the case with the none 64 bit version of this laptop. Price was a possitive surprise too! This one should sell. Now how much is that Toshiba Q(whatever...) notebook?

Good price for a basic notebook. GPU is probably not that good though.

what is the GPU on that thing. but it looks pretty good though. somewhat comparable to the IBP S-Turbo (258kao), except for the kao has a better gpu.

the Averatec ($1250) vs S-Turbo ($1420)
• Mobile Athlon™ 64 3000+ *AMD64 3200+
• 80GB hard drive * 7k60
• 512MB RAM *512mb pc2700 kingston
• DVD+/-RW/CD-RW drive * CD-RW/DVD
• 15.4" widescreen display *15.4" WXGA
• Included remote * no remote
* Unknown CPU *ATI 9700 128mb

+ for Averatec: DVD burner, remote, price
+for IBP: GPU, CPU

bottom line: both good basic lappys. one better for gaming than the other. but some people just dont game and would rather save $150
