Ok I can't help it... I have to contribute. I'll challenge you to challenge yourself - is comfort really what makes you happy? I know being uncomfortable *can* be a cause of unhappiness, but does it necessarily go the other way?

Totally agree here with this fine individual. I personally think that all of you that went out and bought the 9860 without letting the firstquoted fool test it are as much as one. BTW fellow guitarist of over 20 years here...

Oh crap, you've made a sale. You charge a grand more for the latest thing and yet...

Anyone who is a certified and/or partner and/or co-conspiritor and/or ... of MS is neither qualified nor trustworthy enough to comment and/or commit on/to technological know-how and/or updates...

And yet...

You're an official of the company trying to sell me $1000 more computer...

And yet...

...

Pardon, but I do like your name. Aside from that, can you quote statistics on the migration from 95 to 98 and then 98 to XP (nevermind the Millenium fiasco)?

No, but I do, however, care about some of the responses on this board and yet this is my first post. I'm actually considering not buying a laptop based on some of the moronic crap I see right here. And to think that I was going to buy from here too.

Now that's a "testify my brother"!

**** me, all I need is to get rich as a pen0rz scientist and I'll have it made.

-------------------------

Now, for all of you that I have offended, I am truly sorry. For those of you still upset, I am really, truly sorry. For those of you that play video games on a laptop, grow up and get a pen0rz. For those girls that play games on a laptop, there's still pen0rz envy! It's a portable, battery operated computer folks. Rich people suck, but you made your decision. Personally I could care less about the difference between 32 and 64 bit. Want to impress me? Come up with a wireless power card...

I like this guy!!!

Heh I've thought about a wireless power card...the person that invents that will become rather rich. And on 32-bit vs 64-bit- it should be well known that greatest benefit is expanded memory limits, so now people can deck their systems out with several terabytes of RAM. No practical application to home users- 1gb of RAM is plenty, and we've got a ways to go before the 4gb limit is reached. And one more thing, the 9860's motherboard may actually support Intel's 64bit memory extension technology in processors, so that would in face allow a 9860 owner to upgrade to a new processor with 64-bit compatability. It hasn't been proven incompatable to my knowledge, and the intel 925 chipset does support the 64-bit stuff. Funny how it's meant for servers and not home users

Somewhere in all this philosophy there used to be a thread about computers

I've heard about 10-30% performance increases with XP64, even on 32-bit applications (on Athlon chips.) Those could be mistaken.

From what I understand, though, wireless power stations are possible. Nikola Tesla even had one, didn't he? Could light up a light bulb with his Christmas tree. It's just that no one's ever come up with one that doesn't have a number of nasty side effects, isn't it?. We need to work on shielding ourselves and our electronics, not on getting the power out there (although getting the power out there efficiently...)

Why thank you

As to your question. I didn't have to run out and buy a 300 dollar processor and motherboard to change from 95 to 98 and down the line...I upgraded to a new system when it was time for me..not because I was running 98 and wanted XP that is all Im saying..
