Had a 8886 sager brought to me to fix. Toshiba drive was doing a death click & died. Upon further investigation I found there were lose parts floating around inside. 2 of the 4 ceramic pieces that are surronded by the power capaciters had desoldered themselves. The machine was still running !! Tough machines these sagers....
The heat sink near the fans was completely packed with dust bunnys.
Only a slight discoloration on the back side. Machine waas still running when drive quit.
Got a replacement drive, now if I only knew where I layed that service manual??
Like others I could really use a
service manual. After they heard what a new MB would cost they told me just to keep the laptop for what I had already done. I can solder them back on if I knew the correct orientation.
