I was trying out my labtec headphones that have a mic on them on my sager 5680 and for some reason its not picking up the sound at all it seems or its picking up sound from the laptop built in mic. I was trying to play cs source with it and no one could hear me above a whisper i think. Anyone other there some help? Maybe I need a pair of headphones though I hate buying them as they last like 5 min.

hey i had the very same issue when i got a set of headphones with a mic to use on teamspeak. what i had to do was go to the realtek website and get the latest driver for the onboard sound card, then install it. after that, right click on the speaker icon down on the right in the taskbar and pick open volume control panel. in options, make sure advanced controls is checked. then there will be an advanced button by the mic slider. hit that and make sure mic 2 box is not checked. mic boost should be checked. then go to options and then properties and pick the spot for recording. go again to the advanced button at mic slider. again, mic 2 unchecked and mic boost checked. should work then. when you plug in your headset mic it turns off the built-in mic which is pretty cool. adjust the headset mic volume with the mic slider in the volume panel. keep it real low because it is touchy. hope this helps
