I was recently doing some speed tests at pcpistop, and I noticed something that seemed a bit unusual. My Ferrari gets a 1532 when I don't have it plugged in. That's a pretty good score for a laptop and I'm quite happy with it, but the score changes dramatically when I plug it in. It goes down to around 1200. This is predominately because the number of instructions per second (in millions) of the Processor goes from 5731 to 2536. Is there a way to prevent the Processor from slowing down when I plug the system in?

I'm not so sure I'd put much faith in the numbers generated from an on-line system as many factors that are not part of the computer can skew the results.

Try to change your Power settings, (Fn + F3) key to Always on.
I think the Portable/Laptop profile got screwed up and reversed the power settings. When on Battery it runs at full speed 1.8ghz, and when Plugged in it fluctuates from 800mhz to 1.8Ghz. This has happened to my Ferrari 3200, so I have to change Power profiles whenever I Use it plugged or on Battery.
You may download a tool to check the CPU speed called MobileMeter
Google this and you should be able to download it free.
