Transparencies are too thick compared to the nuShield and too small for a 15.4"

so it really shouldn't be as hard to install as some ppl are saying? no need to take apart the lcd? (something that's holding me back from getting the nushield)

anyone had the nushield on for several months have it slide out or off? how well does it stay in place? anyone still using their nushield give us a longterm report on how it's holding up?

I found it best to clip of a small amount from one corner to let in slide under the bezel easier and to install it in the top corners first. I have installed NuShield on three different laptops. I have not seen any shrinkage with use and it will only slide if you forcibly clean your screen.

Two things that make it a pain to install: your fingerprints on the shield as you install it (you have to be careful not to get them on the side that faces the lcd) and it's reccomended to use gloves. Second, the dust particles - make sure to clean the lcd thoroughly before you start to put it..the tiniest hair or dirt will annoy you.

I heard some one kept it on for good. It stays on pretty tight to the screen (without damaging it) and the reason why people take it off is the glare.

With that said, it is an excellet protector against people who like to touch the screen when pointing to it (my wife)

I was primarily looking for something to protect my lcd, and perhaps reduce glare. I can't imagine my screen being any brighter, so I got the af17.0 protection filter from 3m instead of the nushield. check it out

It would be great if you did a review on it with pictures.

Will do, I should be receiving it in the mail in a few days.

I just removed mine and going to return it. I belive they can give a full refund? Has anyone done this before?

the problem is that I cannot get it perfectly flat on the screen, so when viewing reflections its like looking at a fun house mirror.

I heard. But how much did Nushield cost with shipping? Less than $20 or so. For me it wasn't worth the time and money to do the return.

yeah, dell needs to offer truelife to everyone I"m sure they will soon, just mooching up all the 9300 WUXGA profits right now.

haha you guys are using nushield. I was one of the people that gave measurements so taht they could make it for our laptops a year ago. I took it off after half a year becuause it sux for gaming. Too much glare and you cant see in dark areas. People say it looks nice until they use it in the sun. I like to use my laptop outside on the quad at my university. With nushield that is impossible. I would send mine to whoever wants it, but it's kinda scratched up from sitting in my drawer.

I received my filter today, but it wasn't the 3M AF17, it was a Kensington Slimscreen. Seller goofed up and will be issuing a refund. I'll do a review of whatever I get soon.

I just contacted Nushield:
"I'm looking for something to protect my P25-S676 notebook monitor but I don't want anything that will add to the glare or make it look glossy. Can I purchase a regular thin plastic film that will fit my 17" widescreen lcd? How much will this cost? thanks"

3M doesn't offer anything that will be an exact fit for my 17" widescreen monitor, does anyone have any other suggestions? My objective is to protect my monitor from harm and if possible reduce glare.

I definitely don't want to remove any part of my monitor to install anything. I took a piece of paper and I was able to slide it under the frame of my monitor. Can you just slide the nushield under the frame easily without loosening the frame?
NuShield slides very easily under the frame.

Here's what NUshield emailed me back:

You can purchase our anti-glare film as a special order. To do this,
order normally for the Toshiba Satilite P25-S676 17” notebook here:

http://www.nushield.com/products_tab...ps_toshiba.htm

In Step 4 of the check out process, please put in the Customer Comments
box:

SPECIAL FILM=EB NU171A

This will alert the customer service staff to set it aside for special
handling.

Promotional Discount (NCLP10): -$2.00

I got my filter today. However, I'm certain that they sent me the glossy filter, not the anti-glare filter. Installation was snappy, but be prepared to fight the dust. Gloves or sandwhich bags are a must, removing the frame seemed pointless since installation on my pc was snappy. Once you place the filter on the screen, you could remove the gloves and work the filter into the frame by applying light pressure.

The side that goes on the monitor feels smooth, and the side facing you is rough feeling right? Because the nushield rep said maybe I switched the sides and that's why the filter is reflecting images and not reducing glare. I smell something rotten from nushield. I can see my face in my monitor right now, and I special ordered an anti-glare filter.

Per Nushield FAQ:

Do NuShields distort the image as some other products do?

Our screen protectors have a lightly textured surface that sits against the screen to improve the ease of installation and prevent distortion from Newton rings. Newton rings occur when a flat material is placed against a flat screen....

I know that this is an old thread and all, but just wanted to help.

I got 2 Nushields for my 9300. One is the normal version (with glare, looks glossy), and one is the anti-glare version. I can definitely see a huge difference. For me, the anti-glare version is so much better (I'm using it now).

Can we have a picture comparison?

I'm thinking about buying a new notebook that meets all my configuration requests except for a glossy screen. I'm seriously thinking about going for the nushield.

Would it be too much to ask for everyone who has done it to post more pictures of their screens please? I would greatly appreciate pictures from various angles and in diferent lighting conditions (in a dark room, in a room with lights on, daylight, etc...). And if possible a really big close zoom, just to see the effect at pixel level. And of course, some pictures with reflection. That might enlighten us to that flaw.

Pagedown, one doubt: I noticed in the picture of the screen turned off with the nushield, that the reflection is somewhat irregular. Seemed to me it wasn't really flat. Could you say something about this? Do you notice this distortion affects the image when the screen is turned on? And what's it's material? Maleable or hard plastic?

As you know, one of the major functions of glossy screens is to make invisible all the black spaces between the pixels by adding a blur effect to the image. Does nushield does that?

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers
