Questions about Sager 3790! HELP!

Does the 3790 support dual channel? I was looking at discountlaptops.com and for $5 more I can get 1 stick instead of 2 for 1GB. Also, WHAT IS A FRIGGEN S-Video Out Port for???? How come PCTorque never did a review on the 3790? Does anyone know what the infrared transceiver is for? I was looking to buy a infrared remote and I was wondering if anyone knew if it is able to use the built in port. Can you plug a Xbox or PS2 into the 3790 or do you have to get a TV Tuner?

S-Video out serves as a way to transmit video to another source, like a projector, or an LCD television with S-Video input. S-Video doesn't give you the quality a DVI-D would, though.

Much of the video connectivity stuff applies to televisions as much as computers. Here's a link to cnet.com explaining the connectivity options.

hope this helped.

Yeah to plug a XBOX or ps2 you will need a tv tuner ... make sure you look into the one you buy because some have a decoder that makes a two second delay before it plays on the screen ... ie bad for gaming ....

...3790 as far as I know does not support dual channel because dual channel is not capable on the centrino processors yet ... the new 2.0 coming out soon i think is to have it capable of dual booting but i am not sure ...

Duel channel memory will not be availiable until the Sonoma/Alviso chipset comes out in January (don't be surprised if it is later than that though).

If it's an infrared port like the one I have on my Toshiba (sort of a little rectangle looking thing), then you probably can't use a remote with it. You would have to have a separate remote adapter (like the ones that come with Windows Media Centre PCs).

The IR, however, can be used to hotsync some Palm Pilots equipped with infrared, and can also be useful when travelling if you have a cellphone with infrared. You place the cellphone's IR sensor next to the computer's and the computer will see it as a dialup modem. I've used this many times to get email - works great when you have a national plan where calls across the country are included in your minutes (that way you don't have to use a different dialup number).

Hope that helps!

Bill Gates: Now, here's the plan. We're gonna build in this great new infrared feature into Windows so in the future people will be able to use it to let their devices talk to each other - wirelessly!

Pion #1: Brilliant idea, Mr. Gates!

Pion #2: I love it!!!!

Bill Gates: But here's the best of it, in nearly a decade we'll market a media-based operating system and make people have an external infrared adapter that costs $30!

Pion #3: Think of the profit!

Pion #2: I love it!!!!

The room goes dark and flames start licking up behind the head honcho:

Bill Gates: *maniacally* MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
