Hard case for 7405 Att: MadDog

Heres pics of true hard case [non expanding soft side] that works well for 7405GX w/room to spare & lotsa padding. Note external USB "A" drive in pocket. A good unit for us "pack rats" who need extra storage/protection, but dont mind the extra weight when traveling/flying.

Pics dont reveal mildly ribbed machine aluminum surface.

A super easy way around that problem is to just upload your pictures here:
http://www.imageshack.us/

Then you can include them in any message anywhere.

Maybe Thunder should should sticky that somewhere.

Thanks colossus [always a help] for steering me to an internet digital content hosting service.

Still suprised that jpegs/gifs etc can only be added as attachments to posts on this forum. Must be an issue of space savings on Notebookforums.com.

Well, imageshack is free, easy to use, and it actually seems to work pretty good.
I use it quite a bit myself.

This is the one I got when I got my 7405GX, I thinks its great for the price, plus I got 15% off. It can store my laptop, full size mouse, and gamepad controller, power supply cables, and plenty more space. Very happy with it, plus its sexy leather OOOooOOOOOOoOooohhh....

That is a beautiful unit! I love leather...you had me going there for a moment thinking I missed out on an opportunity to buy a leather HARD CASE.

[MadDog & I were in need of HARD CASE attache for travel protection].

Ha,Ha, sorry, I didnt mean to get you going, althought it isnt a hard case, I honestly think it provides more than adequate padding. This is my first notebook, and I will be taking it with me hopefully on a trip to LA this xmas.

I had a Vanguard hard case for my emachines m6809, don't remember the model though. I stopped using it after one trip. It was just too heavy for me. The laptop is already ~10 pounds and the case just adds more wieght in my opinion. But hey, if you like it, then go for it man.

Yup, youre right about the weight factor. I drug mine around this weekend & discovered it gets heavy fast! The bigger the case, the more tempting it is to load up w/peripherals. Having all notebook acc's in one case is convenient, the 22lbs of weight isnt! Guess its all about choices.

At least if you carry that hard case and wear suits similar to the ones Brad Pitt wore in Ocean's Eleven, you'll look like a drug kingpin. Now to pass through Customs...

Hmm...maybe I should forego the handcuffed connection on my hardcase. That may explain the suspicious looks I got on my return aiport visit [from Mexico to SeaTac]

I bought one of these a while ago:
http://www.altmanluggage.com/ShopSite/rw_attache.html
thinking I was going to build a PC in it (even bought friction hinges and a fanless 1U rackmount powersullpy...). Anyway, now I use it for my 9200 (I bought it before 17" laptops existed). Only problem is I'm terrified of denting it... and it's only barely big enough to hold the laptop and the AC adapter. Looks damn cool though -- the mission impossible theme and the peter gun theme alternate playing in my head whenever I cary it.

btw, you can get these cases much cheaper if you find a store that sels them and offer cash... funny how that works. Also, you have to do some custom padding... right, it's a lot of work. (Da-na-nah... Da-na-nah... bump, bump, ba-ba-ba, bump, bump...)

Those units are the most impressive aluminum attache I've seen to date.
[the price on the other hand, too rich for me].

Ebay is a good source as well.
