Dear Dead/Partially Lit Pixel God,

I am one of those mortals who ordered the 9860 laptop and are waiting for it to be delivered. Please accept these bananas as a sign of our respect and fear of you, and help us get the LCD's with no problematic pixels!!

Dead pixel policies...

Interesting...

When I bought my 8790 equiv. in July this year, I optioned for the WSXGA+ screen as used in the 9860 (by my understanding). Now, at this time both the Australian companies flogging the Clevo offered this screen with a zero pixel defect guarantee - they reported the "manufacturer" provided it. The WXGA+ screen did not come with this. Maybe Aus is "the lucky country" for screens?

Of course, you can't guarantee you won't get a dead pixel, but a manufacturer can choose to stand behind replacing any faults found. Naturally, there is a cost in making this option available.

Maybe ive been lucky, but all 10 laptops ive bought (ranging from XGA - UXGA - WXGA - WSXGA) and different manufacturers ive never had a dead pixel yet

Best of luck for those waiting!

Cheers,

Lotus7

My 9860 is up and running.....

Not single flaw on my screen. No dead pixels or scratches anywhere. This thing is pristine!

Two dead pixels on my 9860 (one bright green -- near the left edge, one bright white -- between left and center, more towards the center), both are in the middle 3rd of the display from top to bottom.

Hopefully when PCTorque gets back from the Thanksgiving break i'll be able to get it sorted.
