Dell 9200 - 2.5 hours or 5 hours of battery? Which is it?

I saw the early review in pc magazine about the 9200, and it said it had about 5 hours of battery life, where as Dell only shows it as 2.5. I did notice that under the customization section on dell's website, the 9200 has a $100 upgrade to the a larger capacity battery. Is this what PC magazine was refering to? As much as I love the idea of a 17inch notebook with 5 hours of battery life, I'm concerned that the battery life is gona crapout within a few months after using it. The reason for this is that my previous Dell laptop was pretty good at first, but by the 6 month mark, it was down to under an hour. Anyone else concerned about this? I just hate to blow another $100 for something that is gona perform like the smaller capacity battery in a few months.

Read PCMag's section on how they evaluate notebooks.

Didn't PC Mag have the bigger battery (12 Cell)? I think that Dells site is using the 9 cell when they say 2.5 hours. PC Mag must have been using the 12 cell. So yes, I am pretty sure that the larger capacity battery will do you a lot better.

So I think that the 12 battery is the one to go for it you want closer to 5 hours.

I'm pretty sure Dell's site is incorrect. They list the 6 cell and 9 cell as both having the same amount of battery life:

6 Cell 53 WHr Lithium Ion Primary battery. Approximate operating time: Up to 2.45 hours.

9 Cell 80 WHr Li-Ion primary battery. Approximate operating time: Up to 2.45 hours.

PC Mag's pricing is wrong also, they said that the system they had was ~$2300-ish, but when you click a link to Dell's customization page for the system they got, its upwards of $3200

Yes, I apologize, I just looked and you are right. It’s not 12 cell. They are 6 and 9. Sorry about that guys.

the 9100 is a normal stationary P4, no mobile tech as far i know, thus the DTR designation. the 9200 is a dothan/p-m souly deisnged for portables so id say way more than 1.5hrs battery. unfortunately, i might be wrong

no, you're right.

I imagine you'd get at least 3 hours with a full charge, depending on what you're doing. I think it's safe to say that the 9200 will get marginally less battery life then an 8600.
